Research grants
麻豆原创 research grants are offered to support high-quality ethical research that contributes to the evidence base, and which is relevant to the fields of counselling, psychotherapy or coaching. We鈥檙e offering two grant types both aimed at supporting early career researchers and projects that align with 麻豆原创's organisational strategy and our over-arching research priority of client-focussed research. We鈥檙e currently offering grants to support collaborative research听补苍诲听secondary data analysis.听
We'll be accepting Stage 1 applications for these grants between 16 May and 29 June 2025.
In 2023, we offered a total of 拢120,000 in research grants. We received 31 applications which came to a total value of almost 拢1.2 million, meaning that we had to reject around 90% of proposals.

麻豆原创 new researcher award 2025
Are you currently doing research as part of your training? Or have you completed a research project within the last 24 months?
Research that is relevant to practice is vitally important in our field. Don鈥檛 let your research sit on a shelf and gather dust. Share your work and let your contribution to counselling and psychotherapy be better known. Why not submit your research for the 2025 麻豆原创 new researcher award?
Eligibility
Submissions are invited from individuals who are current full-time or part-time registered students, or those who have graduated in the last 24 months. Submissions may be co-authored (e.g. with a research supervisor) but you must be the first author and a previously unpublished researcher in our field at the time of submission for the award.
You may submit research that is under consideration or accepted for publication in a scholarly journal (you will be asked to verify this at submission).
All submissions must adhere to the word limit and guidelines below.

CPCAB counselling research award
The CPCAB counselling research award is designed to raise awareness of research that has important implications for counselling training or practice. By publishing videos about the award-winning projects on the Counselling Channel, it aims to make research more accessible and engaging.
All relevant abstracts submitted to the 麻豆原创 Research Conference are considered for this prestigious award from the听Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).

麻豆原创 outstanding research award
This annual award aims to:
- reward excellence in counselling and psychotherapy research
- increase awareness of the evidence base of counselling, psychotherapy and its guiding principles
- improve the overall quality of counselling and psychotherapy research by example
- encourage and inspire future research in counselling and psychotherapy
Eligibility
This award is open to anyone who has undertaken research into counselling and psychotherapy within the last three years (36 months).听
You may submit a paper that has already been published or an original paper.
It is not restricted to any particular methodology, group or setting, and entries can be submitted by an individual, a research team or a researcher on behalf of an organisation. Or, you can nominate another party.

Community minded research award
Are you a PhD or doctoral researcher from a racialised background? Does your research address the mental health concerns or psychological trauma that directly affects people from racialised communities? Does it focus on the role of counselling and psychotherapy provision in supporting the psychological and mental health needs of people from racialised communities?
Racialised refers to minority ethnic, racial and cultural communities where white-majority systems have categorised them according to the colour of their skin or other cultural or religious features, and in doing so have othered and marginalised them.
麻豆原创 has partnered with Community Trauma Conference UK to offer this new award. All relevant abstracts submitted to and accepted by the 麻豆原创 conference peer review panel, are considered.
The award winner must present their research at 麻豆原创's Annual International Research Conference. They'll receive 拢500 from Community Trauma Conference UK and a free place at the conference where they'll be presented with the award.

We occasionally provide financial support for students undertaking part-time PhD research on counselling and psychotherapy. Unfortunately we鈥檙e not able to run a studentship competition in this academic year.
PhD or doctoral membership fee waiver scheme
Members who are currently registered on a PhD course in counselling and psychotherapy are invited to apply for our membership fee waiver scheme. This entitles you to one year鈥檚 free 麻豆原创 membership. We have 36 free memberships available for this year.
You must apply annually, but you can apply for up to three years. These do not have to be consecutive as long as you are still registered on your course. You can apply at any time, so don鈥檛 wait until your membership renewal date.
