Research Study: An Exploratory Study to Understanding Grief Counselling from a Therapist’s Perspective

As part of my MA (Integrative Counselling) final year dissertation at Leeds Beckett University I am seeking therapists who work with grief in bereavement counselling to share their experience of being with and supporting the bereaved.

Aim of study: To explore how therapist’s work integrates the nuances of academic literature from their training, into their practical knowledge of working directly with the bereaved person in practice. Frameworks, approaches and working standards in bereavement care can present challenges for therapists attempting to respond to the needs of their bereaved clients, and in ‘how best to help’.

Participants needed: I would like to invite you to participate in giving a voice to the bereavement therapist assisting the bereaved in an under researched area. The criteria for this study is that you have (i) a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience working with grief in bereavement counselling in supervised practice, and (ii) not been personally bereaved within the past 12 months.

Participant involvement: Following an expression of interest in the study a participant information sheet will be forwarded with all necessary information about the study, and the schedule of interview questions in advance if required.

Completion of a 40-60 minute online interview via Microsoft Teams. It will be conducted at a time and place that is convenient for us both. You can change your mind if you decide not to continue at any point throughout the process.

If you are interested or would like to find out more about this research please contact: Carol Dennehy by email at C.Dennehy3478@student.leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
