About me and my therapy practice

There are many reasons why any one of us may seek counselling; it may be because of an immediate or a long standing issue. Counselling can help us to identify future goals, explore past issues that impact on us today, it can encourage us to look at ways in which we can change behaviours that impact on our lives, to find ways to help cope in distressing situations and to discover meaning in our lives. Through working together counselling can help us to unpick and understand any presenting issues, whether they are from the past or what is happening with you today.

I am an integrative counsellor, trained to work within many theoretical models, including CBT and Person Centred therapy. I also have an interest in working with Attachment theory.

I have worked psychotherapeutically for the past 29 years, offering confidential and non-judgmental therapy to clients who are struggling with a wide range of issues, including:

Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Service veterans, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues

Whilst I am not a dedicated ACT therapist, I incorporate working elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my therapeutic work. ACT is a 3rd wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It is a humanistic/ existential form of CBT that focuses on mindfulness and acceptance. ACT places a major emphasis on values, forgiveness, acceptance, compassion, living in the present moment, and accessing a transcendent sense of self.
