About me and my therapy practice
Empowering adults & young people to live emotionally happier lives! I work face to face in Calderdale & online & via telephone throughout the UK . Qualified integrative counsellor since 2011. I’ve worked for Noah's Ark Counselling Centre, Calderdale Women Centre and most recently spent 7 years as School Counsellor at Bradford Grammar School counselling staff and students (young people aged 11 -18). Prior to this I was a Victim Liaison Officer with The Probation Service in Halifax working with victims of violent and sexual offences. Based in a tranquil & rural setting (with plans to offer outdoor walking/talking therapy in the future). References & client feedback are available on request.
Practice description
My approach is integrative meaning I draw upon several different theories. It is fundamentally Humanistic and Person Centred but underpinned by an understanding of Gestalt, Transactional Analysis & Psychodynamic theories. My understanding of Gestalt theory enables me to be more imaginative and creative in my work. My practice is based on my belief in the self-actualisation process and our ability to grow, change and develop towards reaching our full potential in life. I am open to working with any presenting problem or issue - but my specialism & passion is in supporting and empowering adults and young people. I have a particular interest in helping people to move on after divorce & separation, and recovering from emotional, physical, financial or narcissistic abuse.
My first session
I offer open ended sessions for as long as you need them. The first is an initial assessment & allows us to explore the presenting issues and decide whether we can work together. We would use this session to explore what you want from therapy and to set appropriate goals. Future sessions would be led by you covering the issues you feel are most important to you. Every six sessions we will review your progress, decide how many future sessions you want/need and what you want to use them for. I offer a reduced rate of £45.00 for the initial assessment. I also offer a free half hour telephone consultation before booking so you can feel comfortable that I am the right counsellor for you. Please message me, and we can arrange to have a no obligation conversation.
