About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am a relational therapist. I will offer you a gentle, compassionate space where you can explore yourself, your relationships and identify how you feel and what you think about different things.
I am an experienced therapist who qualified in 2015, I am currently training as an attachment based psychoanalytic psychotherapist.
I have worked in a number of charity services, including a range of rape and sexual abuse services and domestic abuse services. This has given me a real understanding of how trauma impacts on people, their relationships and a trust in the human capacity for survival.
Since 2017 I have worked with young adults aged 16 - 30. Providing an affirmative space to explore anxiety, depression, gender identity and neuro-diversity.
I have professional and lived experience of autism and neurodiversity, and am a member of the LGBT+ community.
Practice description
I offer 1:1 work in a friendly space in Ship Street, central Brighton. Its just off North Street - on all bus/train routes and a five minute walk from the sea.
My main tools are listening and understanding. I'll aim to build shared insight and understanding that can help you make change.
I practice from a place of ethics and integrity; I will share my knowledge and experience with you where and when it's helpful for you.
I like to use solution focused approaches that will work with your existing skills. My knowledge about clearing and repairing trauma means that I will pay close attention to the pace and timing of your counselling and think about safety in all that we do. You will have choice, set the pace and have regular opportunities to give me feedback about how you feel your counselling is progressing.
My first session
I offer an initial meeting, for all people who are interested in counselling with me. This is charged at £20 for a half an hour session. At this meeting you can tell me about your life, what's going well, what is currently sticking and your aims or wishes for therapy. Once we've got a sense of the context we can decide if your needs will be met by a short-term piece of work (6 - 10 sessions) or a longer-term contract will be required.
