About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, you have probably landed on this page as you are searching for something, looking for the answer as to why you feel the way you do. At different moments in our lives something can happen that leaves us feeling we no longer know what to do next to help ourselves. You may or may not know why you feel the way you do,. You just know you want help and support to change. You just don't want to feel like this anymore. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help, you want to move forward and change, yet you don't know where to start.
Whatever has brought you to my page today, I believe that change is possible and there is always hope. Often these pivotal moments can be the opportunity for us to reset, to find healthier and more balanced ways to live. You want to understand why you behave or respond in the ways you do. With the correct support, this understanding allows us to choose rather than react.
I support people who want to understand themselves better and begin to develop self-compassion and be less judgemental, mostly towards themselves. To enable you to feel more confident and comfortable in who you are, and to believe that you can rise to the inevitable challenges of life.
I am an accredited Counsellor with over 10 years experience and work both online and face to face from Holt Consulting Rooms. I work with both adults and young people over 15.
I have been trained in different approaches which allows us flexibility in the way we can work together. Counselling is a time and space for you to feel heard and understood. Through using creativity, body therapy, mindfulness and solution focused approaches your life can begin to make sense again. Healing and growth take place in relationships and that is what counselling offers.

Practice description
I am an integrative counsellor, through my training in different approaches I have flexibility in how we work together. I have also trained further to allow me to incorporate mindfulness into my work.
Alongside listening I offer explanations, reflections and alternative perspectives. I may ask questions to help you understand your emotions and experiences. We explore techniques to help you manage and cope with situations and difficulties. I like to include creative options and mindfulness techniques as well as listening in a non-judgemental way.
How does this help? It helps by having a space where you are able to discuss how you are feeling, often just naming how we are feeling brings a sense of relief. Counselling helps make sense of what is bothering you as you begin to understand and work through painful or harmful feelings and thoughts. This allows space for positive feelings and greater confidence in your own abilities to deal with what is happening in your life.
My first session
In the first session there will be a short assessment and will explore what has brought you to counselling. During this first session I will go through the therapy agreement which will be emailed to you before we meet. You can ask for clarification on anything that is not clear about this agreement so that you fully understand how I work and what the expectations are for both of us.
