About me and my therapy practice

Because Your Wellbeing Matters Too. Hi I'm Holly, a warm welcome. Therapy for mums, parent carers/ SEND parents and carers. Space to recharge, connect with your needs and improve your wellbeing.

I'm a Â鶹ԭ´´ accreditated counsellor and psychotherapist who's passionate about supporting parents and carers at any stage of the journey.

Therapy for mums:

Navigating motherhood, whether you're a new mum or have adult children can be full of unique challenges that can impact your emotional wellbeing. Some themes can be:

*Birth trauma. Postnatal depression or anxiety

*Exhaustion, feeling overwhelmed, irritability

*The shifting family dynamics as your children grow, juggling home and work life

*Your identity

*Comparing yourself to others, not feeling good enough, guilt, anxiety, loss

*Changes and challenges in your relationships

*Your own health issues or transitions such as menopause

I can offer you a safe, therapeutic space to gain insight into what is going on for you. We can work together to build up your inner resources and find ways to feel more fulfilled in your life and connected in your relationships.

Therapy for parent carers/ SEND parents and carers

Parenting a child who is disabled, neurodivergent, has SEND and/or has a medical condition/s—whether they’re young or grown—can be full of ups and downs. It can be exhausting, isolating, and emotionally draining. Perhaps you've received some difficult news or are burnout from fighting for the support your loved one needs.

Whether you're caring for a child, a parent, a partner or another loved one,  I have a understanding of the challenges carers face—the juggling act of practical responsibilities, emotional demands, and the toll it can take on your wellbeing. I’m here to offer a safe, understanding space where you can process your emotions, recharge, and find your footing again.

Counselling and psychotherapy doesn't have to be focused on being a parent or carer. We can explore whatever is going on for you.

Practice description

How can counselling and psychotherapy help me?

My approach is down to earth, hopeful and compassionate. I'm not here to judge you. I work in a collaborative way and we'll go at a pace that feels right for you.

I'm an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. This means I can tailor therapy to meet your needs and goals. This will mainly be about talking and reflecting on what is going on for you, to help you feel more connected to yourself, understand any patterns and themes in your life and this can help you make any changes that are meaningful for you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be really helpful to understand any unhelpful patterns that we might get into and has lots of strategies to help improve our wellbeing. Another therapy that some individuals like and I've had experience in is Compassion Focused Therapy. This can help us relate to our difficulties and experiences in a more compassionate way, which in turn reduces distress. You may want to explore relaxation and other self care strategies or creative approaches like journalling.

I aim to be an inclusive therapist and have some general counselling sessions available. I welcome dads and those looking for counselling around other issues and life experiences.

About me

I qualified as a therapist in 2010 and I have worked in GP surgeries in the NHS, as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), with lots of clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma and loss.

I've run several groups during my time in the NHS including a group for carers and one for mums experiencing postnatal depression and anxiety.

Outside of my counselling roles I've also worked with adults with learning disabilities and their families, with mums who have a baby with downs syndrome, in a refuge and in a parent and child unit.

My qualifications include:

*Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (2010)

*Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Studies (2015)

I've also done lots of additional workshops and training

My first session

Initial enquiries

I welcome enquiries if you wish to find out more. We can set up an initial free 15 minute phonecall at a convenient time. This is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions and get a feel for my approach. I'll share with you more about how I work. If we decide that that we're a good fit then we can set up some ongoing sessions depending on your needs. You may be looking for short or long term therapy. At the beginning of working together you can tell me more about what brings you to therapy and we'll explore your goals.

I also understand that life as a parent or carer rarely follows a predictable pattern, so I'm happy to explore flexible options to make therapy work for you. If I'm not the right fit then I'll do my best to point you towards any other services or resources that might help.

I look forward to hearing from you.

About me and my therapy practice

*Face to face Congresbury, North Somerset or online/telephone* Hi, I’m Holly, a warm welcome. Specialising in counselling and psychotherapy if you feel depleted, anxious and on the path to burnout - including parents, SEND parents and carers. A supportive space to connect with your needs, recharge and improve your wellbeing.

Does this feel familiar?

You’re spinning lots of plates-it could be work, parenting, caring for loved ones, relationships and then there’s the pressure of modern connectivity. Feeling overwhelmed by too much to do.

Perhaps you have additional challenges in your life such as past trauma, loss, lack of support or managing a chronic health condition.

The constant pressure, expectations and not feeling you have enough resources are leading to emotional exhaustion, anxiety and depression

Feeling irritable and snappy with your kids or those around you. Conflict in your relationships

Your mind and body might be feeling heavy, making it hard to focus, stay motivated and fully connect with the people you care about

There’s an inner voice of doubt, of not being 'enough,' and of measuring yourself against an idea of where you 'should' be.

How can counselling and psychotherapy help?

If you feel like you've lost your way, therapy can help support you to find a way through. It can be an empowering step towards caring for ourselves and our mental health. Gaining insight and clarity into ourselves and our current experience, can pave the way for more fulfillment in our lives. At the heart of how I work is building a safe and trusting relationship with you so we can explore whatever it is you want to focus on.

  • Additionally I offer counselling for parent carers and SEND parents. If you have a child who is disabled, neurodivergent, has SEND needs and/or medical conditions, there may be additional physical, emotional and practical considerations in your life. Therapy can be a moment to pause, process what is going on for you and your family so you feel more resourced.
