About me and my therapy practice

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their challenges and find practical paths to healing. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship trauma, addiction, or supporting a loved one through difficult times, my approach combines traditional therapy with powerful techniques like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/tapping) to address both immediate concerns and deeper underlying issues.

My practice is built on understanding that everyone's journey is unique. I offer flexible session formats to match your needs: focused 30-minute solution-based interventions for specific challenges, traditional 50-minute therapy sessions for ongoing support, and intensive half-day sessions for deep transformative work. All formats are available both online and in-person from my Dorking practice.

For those dealing with addiction - whether personally or supporting a family member - I provide both immediate coping strategies and longer-term healing work. My approach helps clients understand triggers, reduce conflict, and build healthier patterns, with most seeing tangible improvements within their first month.

My style is down-to-earth and practical. Clients often tell me they appreciate how I make complex emotional work feel manageable. Through our work together, you'll develop:

- Effective tools for managing anxiety and panic

- Deeper understanding of relationship patterns

- Healthier coping mechanisms

- Skills for living more fully in the present

- Strategies for breaking free from negative thought cycles

I work collaboratively with you to create a therapeutic journey that feels safe and productive. Whether you need short-term support or longer-term exploration, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you, combining practical solutions with deeper emotional work as needed.

My training includes an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling, advanced certification in EFT, and extensive experience in trauma-informed therapy.

Practice description

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling with relationships, or watching someone you love battle addiction? Drawing from Dr. Dan Siegel's work, I understand that feeling safe, seen, and soothed are fundamental human needs. I create a nurturing space where you can explore what's troubling you and find practical paths to healing.

My approach starts with ensuring you have the resources and stability to address your immediate challenges. You'll learn effective tools to help you feel more grounded in your daily life. When you're ready, we can gently explore deeper issues - whether that's understanding difficult relationship patterns, processing past trauma, or healing from experiences that have left you feeling lost or stuck.

I have particular experience helping people who:

- Feel trapped in cycles of anxiety or panic

- Are trying to break free from using alcohol, substances, or other behaviours to cope

- Want to heal from painful relationship experiences

- Are dealing with the impact of growing up in challenging family environments

- Need support in setting healthy boundaries with loved ones

- Are working to overcome eating challenges

- Want to process past trauma and find peace

As a trauma-informed therapist and Advanced Addiction Practitioner, I combine evidence-based practices with powerful techniques like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). My extensive training includes specialisation in Eating Disorders and trauma work, and I speak for the National Association for Children of Alcoholics charity, bringing deep understanding to family dynamics and generational patterns.

I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting. That's why I offer a free 20-minute consultation where you can ask questions and share any concerns. This helps ensure you feel prepared and comfortable before we begin our work together.

Whether you're seeking personal change or support in helping someone you love, I provide a compassionate space where healing can begin.

My first session

Your initial session is an opportunity for us to understand your needs and establish a comfortable therapeutic relationship. Before we meet, I'll send you a gentle assessment form that helps me understand what brings you to therapy. During our first session, we'll explore this together at your pace, creating a picture of your journey through:

A collaborative conversation about what's brought you to therapy now

A gentle exploration of your family background and relationships

Creation of a timeline highlighting significant life events that feel important to you

I structure this initial meeting to ensure you feel safe and in control of what you share. Many clients tell me they appreciate this thoughtful approach, as it helps them feel more secure and understood from the very beginning.

If you're ready to take this first step, I invite you to book an initial consultation where we can discuss any questions you might have before committing to this first session.
