About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Jane, a warm welcome to my practice.
You might be finding yourself feeling low or a bit anxious, sad and maybe lonely. You might be having pressures at work, or with family or your partner and confused about the impact this is having on you. You could be struggling with the loss of someone close or even just fed-up feeling something isn't quite right but not sure what to do. My aim is to provide you with somewhere safe and confidential in which to explore the reasons why you decided to seek some support at this time and the initial session will provide a secure place to explore this.
I have trained and worked in psychotherapy and counselling for many years in which I have had had robust and vigorous training and extensive experience in working with individuals. I hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute. I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and registered with the Â鶹Դ´ (MÂ鶹Դ´). In addition to Metanoia I have trained at the Regents College of Psychotherapy and Counselling and advanced training with Cruse Bereavement Care. I abide by the Â鶹Դ´ and UKCP Code of Ethics.

Practice description
Longer-Term Counselling
A longer term commitment to therapy offers the opportunity to explore in more depth what may be troubling you. Meeting once weekly at the same time for 50 minutes in a warm, friendly and non-judgmental setting can provide an enriching environment in which to seek change. Taking a relational stance I will be an active role walking by your side while addressing subject matter you wish to bring to the work. If you are unsure what you need or would like at this time, or are uncertain in any way about counselling, these concerns can be discussed at our first session where we can agree what you might like from counselling and how we may work together.
Shorter-Term Counselling
A shorter term commitment can provide the chance to work in a more solution focused way if there is a particular issue that may be troubling you and is usually around 6 to 12 sessions. Although I prefer to work longer term with clients I do see benefits from shorter term work particularly if you have specific areas that you would like to work on. The therapy takes a more direct and focused approach. In the first session we will discuss your concerns, needs and what you might like from counselling so that we can agree together how we might work together
My first session
Understandably, seeking therapy can feel a little daunting and I aim to make it as welcoming and comfortable experience as I can. An initial session is an opportunity for you to let me know a little more about yourself, what has brought you to seek therapy now, and for you to ask any questions that you may have. It also offers an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work. This session is with no further commitment and we can discuss further whether you would like to continue and agree together what will work for you. The session will be the standard 50 minutes. Please get in touch to arrange a free 15 minute phone call or an initial session.
