About me and my therapy practice

In my practice, I adopt an integrative approach to therapy, combining elements from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Person-Centred approaches. This flexibility allows me to tailor sessions to the unique needs and goals of each client. I specialise in working with individuals and couples dealing with challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress management, bereavement, and trauma. My focus is on creating a collaborative and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions. By incorporating creative techniques alongside traditional methods, I aim to facilitate self-awareness and personal growth, helping clients navigate their journeys toward healing and well-being.

Practice description

At the heart of my practice is a commitment to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where clients can openly express themselves. Understanding that each individual's experience is unique, I tailor my therapeutic approach to align with the specific needs and preferences of my clients. For individuals, this may involve addressing personal challenges, emotional distress, or life transitions. In couples therapy, the focus is on enhancing communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening the relationship bond. My integrative approach draws from evidence-based modalities such as CBT, which helps in identifying and changing negative thought patterns; Psychodynamic Therapy, which explores underlying emotional issues; and Person-Centred Therapy, which emphasises personal growth and self-acceptance. I also incorporate creative techniques, including art and narrative therapies, to facilitate expression and insight. Recognising the importance of accessibility, I offer remote sessions via secure video conferencing platforms, allowing clients to engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own homes. This flexibility ensures that therapy is accessible to those with varying schedules and commitments.

My first session

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a complimentary initial telephone consultation. This 20-minute session provides an opportunity for us to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. It's also a chance for you to get a sense of my therapeutic style and determine if we are a good fit for working together. During this consultation, we'll explore what you hope to achieve through therapy and how I can support you in that process. If you decide to proceed, we'll schedule our first full session, during which we'll delve deeper into your concerns and begin to develop a tailored therapeutic plan. I understand that reaching out for help is a significant step, and I strive to make this process as comfortable and supportive as possible.

About me and my therapy practice

As a dedicated counselling professional with extensive experience in therapeutic practice, I am currently advancing my expertise by undertaking the Certificate in Clinical Supervision with Counselling Tutor Ltd. This rigorous training program is meticulously mapped to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´) Supervision Competence Framework, ensuring that my supervisory skills are developed in alignment with the highest industry standards. The course encompasses a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, covering essential aspects such as the principles of supervision, ethical considerations, and the development of effective supervisory relationships. This training also includes competencies for online and telephone supervision, reflecting the evolving modalities of contemporary therapeutic practice.

Counselling Tutor

In my supervisory role, I adopt an integrative and collaborative approach, drawing upon a diverse range of therapeutic modalities to support supervisees in their professional development. I am committed to creating a reflective and supportive environment where counsellors can openly explore their client work, discuss ethical dilemmas, and engage in personal growth within their practice. Recognising the unique journey of each counsellor, I tailor supervision sessions to meet individual needs, fostering an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. My aim is to facilitate a supervisory experience that not only enhances clinical skills but also promotes self-awareness and resilience, essential qualities for effective therapeutic practice.

Practice description

In my evolving supervisory practice, I offer sessions to both trainee and qualified counsellors who are seeking a supportive space to reflect on their clinical work. My supervision style is underpinned by principles of ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Understanding that each supervisee brings a unique set of experiences, theoretical orientations, and client demographics, I tailor our sessions to address individual learning styles and therapeutic approaches. This personalised approach ensures that supervisees receive guidance that is relevant and applicable to their specific practice contexts.

Given my current status as a supervisor-in-training, I maintain an open and transparent dialogue with potential supervisees regarding the scope and limitations of my supervisory capacity. I actively encourage trainee counsellors to consult with their training institutions or professional bodies to confirm that supervision hours accrued with me will meet their specific requirements. This proactive communication ensures that all parties are informed and that the supervision provided aligns with the necessary accreditation and training standards. Additionally, I engage in regular supervisory supervision and adhere to the ethical guidelines set forth by the Â鶹ԭ´´, ensuring that my practice remains reflective, accountable, and attuned to the evolving needs of my supervisees.

My first session

Understanding the importance of establishing a strong supervisory alliance, I offer an initial consultation session at a reduced rate. This introductory meeting serves as an opportunity for us to discuss your supervision needs, explore how we might work together, and address any questions or concerns you may have about my supervisory approach. During this session, we will delve into your current clinical practice, professional aspirations, and any specific areas where you seek support or development. This collaborative dialogue allows us to identify mutual expectations, set preliminary goals for our supervisory work, and determine the frequency and format of future sessions.

For trainee counsellors, this initial meeting also provides a platform to discuss the verification process with your training provider, ensuring that our supervisory arrangement meets the necessary criteria for your course requirements. I am committed to facilitating this process by providing any requisite documentation or engaging in direct communication with training institutions as needed. This level of support underscores my dedication to creating a supervisory experience that is both enriching and compliant with professional standards.
