About me and my therapy practice

About Me: 

With over 16 years of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I provide a warm, empathetic, and professional approach to therapy. I specialize in helping clients experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, life transitions, and anxiety disorders. 

My therapeutic practice integrates Psychodynamic Counselling, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as other approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). I tailor my approach to suit each client's unique needs, drawing on various modalities to ensure effective and compassionate care.

I work collaboratively with my clients, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Whether you're facing anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, or self-esteem struggles, I am committed to helping you gain insight, overcome challenges, and make meaningful progress toward healing and personal growth.

My focus is always on your unique needs and goals, and I am here to support you in navigating life's challenges, helping you build a better sense of self and improve your emotional well-being.

Welcome to my practice, a safe, confidential, and welcoming space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. I believe in creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship, where you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the process. 

Whether you prefer in-person sessions in my Banstead practice or the flexibility of online therapy via Zoom, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and empowered.

In our sessions, you can expect a tailored approach to suit your unique needs, combining a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques.  

I believe in a flexible, holistic approach that adapts to your goals and provides you with the tools to manage life’s challenges, whether it’s dealing with anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, low self-esteem, grief, or life transitions.

In my practice, you can expect a non-judgmental space to explore your concerns at your own pace, with support to build coping skills and enhance self-awareness.

We will work together to create a plan that suits your goals, ensuring that the therapy process feels empowering and meaningful.

I also offer therapy in Portuguese, providing a comfortable space for Portuguese-speaking clients to explore their experiences and challenges in their native language.

My first session

Your First Session: What to Expect

The first session is an important step in beginning your journey towards personal growth and healing. During our initial meeting, my goal is to get to know you better and understand what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current challenges, concerns, and the goals you hope to achieve through our work together.

Here’s what you can expect during your first session:

Building rapport and trust: The first session is a time for us to establish a comfortable and safe space. It’s essential for me to understand you as an individual, so we’ll take the time to discuss your background, any relevant experiences, and the issues you’d like to focus on.

Exploring your goals: Together, we’ll identify your goals for therapy. Whether you’re looking to address anxiety, relationship struggles, trauma, or self-esteem concerns, we’ll work to define clear objectives and tailor the therapy approach to suit your needs.

Answering your questions: This session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy, my approach, or anything that’s on your mind. I want you to feel confident and comfortable moving forward.

Setting expectations: I’ll explain how the therapeutic process works and the different approaches I use, including Psychodynamic Counselling, CBT, IPT, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and CFT (Compassion-Focused Therapy). 

Together, we’ll agree on a treatment plan that draws on the most suitable approaches for you. We’ll also discuss the frequency of sessions and how we’ll measure your progress over time, ensuring that therapy supports your goals and needs.

By the end of the first session, my aim is for you to have a clear understanding of how we can work together and how therapy can support your personal growth. You’ll leave with a sense of direction, knowing that we’re taking the first steps towards meaningful change.
