About me and my therapy practice

I am a humanistic counsellor and therapist, as well as a women's mental health and trauma informed practitioner. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including various ethnicities, nationalities, occupations, sexual orientations, ages, and genders. It is a privilege to support them and be part of their unique journeys. I offer individual counselling for adults (18+), with both short-term and long-term/open-ended options, tailored to each individual's needs. I typically see clients on a weekly basis, though biweekly sessions are available upon request.

Talking to someone outside of your usual environment—someone who isn’t directly involved—can sometimes be easier. It provides a space where you can freely explore your issues and discuss anything on your mind without the pressure of outside opinions

Seeking counselling may be because you struggle with feeling depressed & anxious or experience intrusive thoughts or panic attacks, which could be for an number of reasons, including, but not limited to: relationship issues, past and historic problems, family issues, work related stress, bullying, burnout, redundancy, loss, identity issues, low-self-esteem, low-self confidence, feeling sad & hopeless, loneliness, identity struggles, childhood trauma, or emotional abuse...

You may also feel overwhelmed by emotions like shame or guilt or always feel responsible for things and experience a high sense of duty and obligation, and perhaps feel stuck in that and don't know how to change that or to make sense of your experience.

I am here to support you in making sense of your experiences, understanding yourself better, gaining more clarity & finding your own insights & resolutions to issues. I will facilitate you in your process, in growing your self-awareness, building your resilience or overcoming past destructive patterns enabling you to make better choices for yourself & to lead a more positive and fulfilling life in the present.

Practice description

I understand that people seek therapy for many different reasons and with varied goals in mind. My approach is holistic, emphasizing a deep understanding of each client’s unique life experiences, their relationship with themselves, others, and the world around them.

I deeply value the individuality of each person, believing that within you lies the potential to make the changes you seek. In our work together, I will support you during your most vulnerable moments by creating a trusting, compassionate space where you can feel free to express yourself openly. This safe environment allows you to reflect on your experiences without judgment, so you can feel truly heard and understood.

I am a Women's Mental Health and Trauma-Informed Practitioner and specialize in providing gender-specific support for women navigating challenging life experiences. My work is  rooted in understanding the unique, individual journeys of each woman and how these experiences shape their mental health and overall well-being. I offer compassionate and empowering support to women from all walks of life, addressing a broad spectrum of issues, including PMS, PMDD, PMAD, perinatal loss, fertility and infertility, menopause, emotional and disordered eating, body image, PCOS, Endometriosis, and sexuality & pleasure.

Central to my approach is the understanding that sociocultural imbalances play a significant role in women's mental health outcomes. Societal expectations, gender discrimination, gender bias in treatment, body image issues, violence and trauma, intersectionality, and economic inequality can profoundly affect women's mental health, often leading to feelings of inadequacy, loneliness, and the development of anxiety or depression. Addressing these factors is essential for fostering true healing and resilience in the women I support.

My first session

You can arrange the first session directly with me or request a free 15 min chat beforehand, if you are unsure about starting counselling. This may be because you have never had therapy before or had a negative counselling experience or just find it hard to open up and talk. This brief initial chat is also an opportunity in case you have any questions that you would like to be answered.

Once we have arranged a session time, I will forward you some more details before the first session, including a counselling agreement and a GDPR client privacy note for you to read, which can also discuss in the first session if you have any questions in regards to that.

The first session is a full session and is about getting to know you more and for you to tell me about your issues, why you seek counselling and what you expect from this space and me. We will then look together at how I can best support you in your journey and talk to you about the counselling process. Everything you share with me is confidential.

You get to experience how it is working with me and whether you want to go ahead in working with me. There is no obligation to do so, as I believe the relationship is fundamental in the counselling process, and I appreciate and respect each individual's choice about the best fit for them.
