About me and my therapy practice
Hello, here is a bit about me. I work with adults and young people aged 14+ and have 10 years’ experience as a Â鶹Դ´ accredited counsellor. I can offer you a peaceful, calm space to feel welcome, safe, nurtured and heard. Sometimes, we just want someone to understand how we feel and what life is like for us.
In our sessions, we might laugh together, feel sad together, but above all the core of my work is to support you on your journey to understand who you are and hopefully feel better about being you.
I have had previous experience in a variety of settings, including, charities, schools, colleges, and counselling agencies. I am also a registered therapist with Compass education. These varied experiences have given me a wonderful opportunity to work with many different people.
I have extensive knowledge and understanding of SEMH (Social, emotional mental health), ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression and mental health conditions.
Practice description
Everybody accesses counselling for different reasons: you might want to get some thoughts out in the open; you might not know what is wrong; you might be feeling different to how you used to feel; or you might want to get to the root of what has been holding you back or upsetting you.
I do not offer a one size fits all approach. Each session is bespoke to your needs with careful consideration given to how therapy can best support you. Some examples of sessions I can offer are: talking therapy, in a person- centred approach; CBT; Therapeutic Life Story work; trauma informed counselling; outreach for young people not in education; walking and talking, using the great outdoors; creative arts; sand tray therapy, and working with animals to help explore our feelings when words don't always work.
My first session
I believe that one of the most important aspects of counselling is the relationship. Our first session is not only an assessment of your needs but also the opportunity for you to gain an understanding of how we might work together and whether you feel this could work for you. This is charged at the standard rate but with no commitment to further sessions.
