About me and my therapy practice
I have worked with a variety of clients across many different sectors. My therapeutic approach can help with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges or simply a desire to better understand yourself. Many clients find it a deeply rewarding process that fosters greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional wellbeing. Over many years I have developed a particular specialist interest in working with bereavement, trauma and loss. Clients experiencing trauma need support in processing deep and difficult thoughts and feelings in a safe space in order to start to feel better, which I am able to facilitate.
Humanistic counselling is a warm, client-focused approach to therapy that puts you at the centre of the process. It’s built on the belief that everyone has the capacity for personal growth and self-discovery when given the right support. I offer a safe space to explore your goals and will empower and support you to achieve them.
I will listen with empathy, respect, and understanding, helping you reflect on your experiences, values, and emotions for any situation. Rather than giving advice or imposing solutions, I will work alongside you to empower you to find your own answers.
Practice description
Before you start counselling you'll meet with me for a free 30 min session which is known as an assessment. This is so that I can get an initial overview of what is going on for you, explain a bit more about how I work and for you to ensure you are happy and comfortable to move forward with sessions.
I will provide you with a contract for counselling which explains everything clearly to you and will go through this with you to ensure you are comfortable before we move forward together. It's really important to make sure you have full understanding of the what to expect prior to starting your counselling, so if you have any questions please do ask.
My first session
I offer an initial free thirty minute assessment session or telephone call where we can discuss your needs as well as exploring how I work to see how we might move forward together therapeutically. The first counselling session will take place following this should we decide to move forward together at that time, and would be a normal fifty minute paid session.

Supervisor - Exeter

Availability
I have current availability for supervisees for both daytime and evening slots, please email me for more information and I'd be happy to support you.
About me and my therapy practice
I also hold an Advanced Diploma in Relational Supervision (NCPS accredited), meaning I am fully qualified to provide supervision services or reflective practice to groups and individuals. I have vast experience and formal qualifications in working with clients and supervising online as well as face to face. I have worked across various sectors including the NHS, hospices, schools, private practice and charitable organisations. As such, I have worked with diverse client groups, including adults and children. I have a specialised interest in trauma and loss, and this has threaded through my work over the years. My approach to supervision is relational, meaning the focus is on the supervisory relationship at the core alongside providing support around therapeutic work.
Having also worked as a lecturer across the past eight years, I have also got experience of working alongside students and so am happy to supervise trainees during their course and on placement. I have limited concessionary rates slots set aside for student counsellors, please contact me for more information about this and to see if I can support you as you move forward with your training.
Practice description
My supervision practice presently has two offerings - either online or face to face if you are in the local area by attending my practice space. When working online, I operate from the same private space as when we meet face to face, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. I am happy to offer a hybrid model of this (some online, some face to face supervision) to suit you and your needs as a practitioner. Please get in touch with me if you would like more information about my practice space, or how we might work together moving forward.
My first session
I'm happy to provide a free thirty minute conversation via the telephone or video link to potential supervisees so that I can understand more about their needs and they can understand a bit more about the way I work as a supervisor prior to moving forward together.
Following this, I would provide monthly supervision for qualified therapists for a minimum of 1.5 hours. For trainees, I can offer either monthly or fortnightly supervision dependent upon the course requirements and we can agree this during our first meeting. I do not charge additional to students for provision of course related reports.
