About me and my therapy practice

I work with children, young people and adults.

I am a Â鶹ԭ´´ (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accredited counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Brighton University.

My training includes a Certificate in Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT) with Trauma Psychology.

I recently completed the Circle of Life Rediscovery training in Nature Based Practice for professionals to take their practice outdoors.

I practice from a humanistic psychotherapeutic perspective grounded in the acknowledgement that we each have our own unique experiences in life.

Since 2017 I have been working as senior therapist and a designated safeguarding lead for a children and young persons service within a large charity in West Sussex. I continue to work in this role alongside my own private practice in Lewes, East Sussex.

My career has also involved many years working in health, wellbeing, education and sports development with children, young people and adults of all ages. This includes counselling adults for an East Sussex drug and alcohol service and for a bereavement charity.

Additional qualifications held include a degree in Philosophy, a Masters in Sports Development and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status (primary aged).

I have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) and full Professional Insurance.

I maintain regular clinical supervision and as an accredited member of the (Â鶹ԭ´´), abide by their code of ethics and good practice.

I am a member of the Â鶹ԭ´´'s Children, Young People and Families division and take part in continued professional development.

Practice description

  • Children and young people

I offer client led play and arts-based therapy and counselling for 5-18 year olds and am passionate about offering much needed support to this age group.

Working in a client led way, allows a flexible adjustment to my approach with play, arts and talking according to the age, need and preference of the child or young person.

I aim to provide a supportive and nurturing service, with the therapeutic relationship holding central importance, in creating a safe space where experiences, emotions, trauma and loss can be processed.

Children and young person's sessions last 50 minutes and cost £70.

I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week.

There are options to work in a time limited way, such as up to 12 sessions or in an open-ended way over a longer period of time.

I work from my garden counselling room in Lewes, East Sussex.

If your child is at school in Lewes, I may also able to see them within the school day at their school if that is appropriate and a preferred option.

  • Adults

I offer adults walking-talking counselling in the Lewes, East Sussex area, online counselling or in person counselling from my garden counselling room in Lewes.

Walking-talking counselling can be helpful for people who find the conventional therapy setting awkward and uncomfortable, as well as those who generally find it easier to talk when moving. For some, walking side by side can allow thoughts and feelings to flow and be processed more easily. The rhythmic act of walking and being in nature can have far reaching beneficial and healing effects.

I have extensive knowledge and experience of working with families who have been affected by someone else's drug or alcohol use. I am able to offer this 1:1 counselling online for adults living in the UK.

I offer regular weekly appointments at the same time each week. I can work with you in a shorter time limited way or for open-ended longer-term work.

Adult counselling sessions last one hour and cost £65.

My first session

Children and young people:

We can have an initial conversation to answer any questions you may have and to talk about availability for a therapy start date. After this, there will be a time to speak on the phone or via video call (about 30 minutes) as an initial assessment so I can gather more information and we can decide if I may be a suitable therapist for your child.

You can join your child at the beginning of our first time together, so they can meet me with you. They can then decide for themselves after that first session if they would like to continue with further weekly appointments.
