About me and my therapy practice
I am absolutely passionate about providing a safe space for you to reconnect, heal and transform to a life of your choosing. Many of us come to therapy feeling trapped, disconnected, lost without a clear way out. In moments of suffering, when life feels overwhelming and lonely, therapy provides a path to healing. It's not a quick fix, but a safe space to understand and embrace all aspects of yourself that may have been silenced. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, guided by tried-and-true therapeutic methods.
Therapy operates on a top-down, bottom-up approach, engaging both the mind and body to facilitate healing. Through introspection and dialogue, we unravel the patterns contributing to your pain, empowering you to make conscious choices and reclaim your authentic self. By addressing stored emotions and trauma within the body, we facilitate a holistic healing experience.
Therapy is not about learning how to not feel, it is about relearning how to feel and validate experiences and emotions in a safe and nurturing environment. Although at times this may feel exposing or tough, I will always work at a pace to suit your needs. For it is in relearning how to feel, we open ourselves up to a greater capacity for experiencing the true joy and magic life has to offer, which we may have forgotten.
I am a true believer in this work and remain passionate about providing quality care with my inherent belief in my clients capacity for real lasting change.
Practice description
In my practice, I tailor my therapeutic approach to suit each individual's unique needs, drawing from a blend of techniques and theories including IFS, psychodynamic, existential, somatic experiencing and polyvagal theory. I large part of my work is centres around working with the body, reconnecting back to the felt sense of hour experiencing and teaching techniques that help you feel safe within your body and help you work through difficult or painful emotions. By fostering a collaborative process that honors the mind-body connection, I aim to support you on your journey towards healing, self-discovery, and personal growth.
In our sessions, I offer a blend of compassion and challenge, creating a safe space for exploration and growth. I see you as your own unique person, with your own unique experience and therefore your own unique way through. I will hold space to meet you and your needs and work creatively to work through what comes up. Together, we will unravel the knots within, nurturing the seeds of healing and transformation.
I bring my full, human self into the room, recognising the most profound aspect of therapy is the space we create together, as two humans sitting together in a safe, open and honest environment.
My path to this work began long before my formal training in 2014. Early on, amid the intricate dynamics of a bustling family, I discovered a profound sensitivity to the hidden layers within individuals—the stories beneath the surface, the pain masked by a smile. Like many who walk the path of healing, I too have felt the weight of suffering and walked through the shadows of trauma. I intimately understand the struggle of living a life that feels unfamiliar, disconnected from one's true self. I know the courage it takes to embrace change, to trust in the process, and to find a way to heal.
My first session
For the first session, I offer a full hour to start the process of understanding you and your background. I will send out a questionnaire prior to the session as a prompt for areas we will look at. Alongside this, and just as important, the first session is also a space for you to get to know me and how I work. It is important for you to feel I am someone you can talk to, connect with and ultimately begin to trust (which in itself can often bring up fear). The first session will gives us chance to asses your needs, both from what you would like to get out of our sessions and also on a practical level when would be good to meet, the frequency and any other requirements you may have.
