About me and my therapy practice

I love being a therapist and am genuinely interested, engaged and supportive throughout our journey together.  I am warm, compassionate, perceptive and honest.  My clients tell me that I am easy to talk to and have a good sense of humour which they find helpful, especially when things are tough.  I understand that you may feel worried about opening up and talking about difficult experiences and feelings, so we will find a process and a pace that is right for you.

Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy

I see you as a unique person with unique experiences.  I can support you to overcome specific, distressing problems for example:

• Anxiety and/or depression

• Panic attacks

• Traumatic experiences at any stage of life

• Loss and bereavement

• Low confidence and self esteem

or to understand the thoughts, feelings and behaviour that make you feel overwhelmed or that things aren't right.

Our relationship will be confidential, relaxed and supportive, helping you to feel good about yourself, overcome your difficulties and achieve your potential.  The process is sensitive to your pace and what you want to explore and is focussed on what you want to achieve.

Couples/Relationships

Is your relationship at crisis point with each day feeling like a battleground?  Not at crisis point but feeling distant because of the constant struggle, blaming and arguments?

Working together with focus and purpose, we can understand what is pushing you apart.  Drawing from my training and experience in Imago Relationship Therapy, I teach you the tools and skills to create safety and calm in your relationship, supporting you to re-connect with what you like and love about each other.  Those tools and skills are yours forever and will help future-proof your relationship.

It takes commitment and hard work to positively change the direction of your relationship and I am enthusiastic and committed to that process.  If you feel the same way, I may be the right therapist for you.

Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy

My training and experience in a range of therapies such as Person Centred, CBT, Transactional Analysis and more, supports me to offer bespoke therapy that is personal to you and your needs.  Specific therapeutic techniques enable us to tackle specific problems.  I have extensive experience in supporting individuals to overcome and move on from current or past trauma, disabling anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.

I believe that answers to our difficulties lie within our  relationships with others, often starting in childhood.  Knowing the importance of relationships to our wellbeing also means that our therapy relationship is a key ingredient to the change process.  My approach puts you and your experience at the heart of that process.

We can exist very much in our heads and ignore important messages from our feelings and body.  Working together to connect and work through your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour will help you to understand, accept yourself and change your life for the better.

Couples/Relationships

I am a relational psychotherapist and counsellor.  I use Imago Relationship Therapy as my main model when working with couples.  I incorporate other therapeutic approaches that recognise that negative thought and feeling patterns can persist, often from childhood, and impact our relationships today.

Supporting real communication using the Imago dialogue approach, you gain a deep understanding of the negative patterns you both bring into your relationship now and work together to find ways of re-connecting thoughtfully, emotionally and physically.

My first session

I understand that choosing a therapist to work with isn't easy.  If you think you might be interested in us working together, please get in touch by email, text or call and we can arrange a free 20 minute consultation before you commit to anything.  We can discuss your best hopes and worst fears about the process.  I will do my best to answer any questions and address any concerns that you may have.  If you decide then or later that you want to go ahead and book a first session we can make the arrangements.

Individuals

You are not your symptoms, however, your symptoms are related to your life and relationship experiences, thoughts and feelings. In our first session I will ask you to share as much about yourself as you feel able to.  It is important to me that I can understand as much as possible what it feels like to be you.

At the same time, we will absolutely prioritise working together to begin to alleviate any distressing symptoms, for example anxiety/panic attacks.

The fee for individual therapy is £50 and sessions are 50 minutes.

Couples/Relationships

In our first session I will:

Take some brief information from you both

Explain how you can keep emotionally safe while still being able to share your hurts, fears, frustrations and needs.

Teach you the imago dialogue - the safe way of sharing and really listening to and understanding each other.

Help you to recognise there is much to celebrate and appreciate about your relationship and what drew you to each other in the first place.

The fee for couples therapy is £70 and sessions are 60 minutes.

I also offer 90 minute sessions at £100 and we can discuss and agree if longer sessions would be helpful.

My practice is based in my discreet, welcoming home therapy room in Horbury.  It's within easy reach of Wakefield, Huddersfield, Barnsley and surrounding areas and a 5 minute drive from M1 J40.

I also offer online individual and couples sessions if getting to an appointment is difficult.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with warmth and purpose with both trainee and qualified therapists to encourage honest reflection on your work and promote exploration and growth.

Practice description

Hi, I’m Tracy.

I am a practising Integrative Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I also have a Psychology degree and lots of previous experience of supporting and nurturing the growth of individuals and groups.

I enjoy and value my own supervision and work with warmth and purpose to recreate a similar experience with my supervisees. I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore the therapeutic relationships you have with your clients and support you to grow in ways that feel authentic to you and your practice. My training and ongoing development enables me to support you in your preferred modality and also consider other approaches and creative ways of working if that feels useful.

Although I work solely in private practice now, I receive referrals from employers and care agencies and often work with people experiencing challenging lives. Depending on your practice, I understand that you may well be working with clients who have extremely difficult and distressing experiences and I can collaborate and share my experience and expertise with you when this would be helpful.

Working in helping professions is challenging and as well as client safety, your safety and wellbeing is at the heart of our supervisory relationship.

I offer in person supervision from my practice in a welcoming, relaxed setting in Horbury, 5 minutes from the M1 Junction 40 and easily accessed from Wakefield, Huddersfield, Leeds, Barnsley and surrounding areas. There is parking for you right outside. If you don’t live near enough to see me or prefer the convenience of remote supervision sometimes or always, then I’m happy to work via Zoom or telephone.

My fees for supervision are £50 for 1 hour, £60 for 1.5 hours. Reduced fees are available to trainee counsellors. If you would like to chat about the possibility of us working together, contact me on tracyhardcastlecounselling@outlook.com or 07838 318410.
