About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced, integratively trained counsellor working in Farnham, online and by telephone. I work primarily with young people over 16 and adults however, I also have a specific interest in working with couples looking for bereavement counselling sessions together rather than individually. Alongside my private practice, I am a counsellor for The Brain Tumour Charity. I have a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling and as a registered member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I abide by their Ethical Framework and professional standards.

I regularly support clients with anxiety, depression, loneliness, loss of identity and relationship problems. I also have a particular interest in supporting grief and loss in its many forms including loss by suicide and perinatal loss. Counselling can also be a helpful way of exploring anticipatory loss, when someone close to you or you look after, is living with a chronic or life-limiting illness. I additionally have experience of providing short-term workplace counselling for a variety of local organisations, supporting any issue an employee needs to talk about.

My therapy room is located on the first floor of a lovely barn, and is close to Farnham train station and a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free on-road parking can be found on several roads very close by. Please note unfortunately there is no lift available in the building.

Practice description

I offer both short and long term work to best meet your individual needs. Short term therapy can be helpful for a major life event, coping strategies and working with specific goals, whereas longer term therapy, often called psychotherapy, tends to support a broader range of issues and challenges in more depth.

My style of working is humanistic, relational and client-led; aiming to create a space where we can build a collaborative, connected therapeutic relationship that feels safe and supportive. I find it can often be helpful to explore your experience of relationships both past and present, to better understand thoughts and feelings in the here and now, and to think about coping behaviours that can help with day to day living.

My first session

Free assessment for individuals: to talk about what you need to bring to counselling, your hopes and expectations, answer any questions you have and think about how I might be able to help.  It takes about 15/20 minutes and assessments are available in Farnham, online or by phone.

Free assessment for couples bereavement work:  to talk to you both about what you are looking for, your hopes and expectations of working together, answer any questions and think about how I might be able to help. It takes about 30 minutes and can be done in Farnham or online. Some forms will be emailed for completion by you both before the initial meeting takes place.
