About me and my therapy practice

Do you have complicated family relationships that are taking up too much of your time and energy?

Parenting is hard. You may have a neurodiverse child, or neurodiversity in your family, that leads to additional challenges in parenting and family life.

There may be other challenges in your family that are hard to manage.

You find yourself just about keeping your head above water for the sake of the family.

Maybe people in your life don’t really ‘get it’, and you feel like you are dealing with too much on your own.

Prioritising yourself and working on your wants and needs doesn’t need to be complicated, and it certainly isn’t selfish:

  • Therapy is flexible and can be at a time that works for your schedule.
  • It is a time where you get to focus on yourself and cut out the noise of daily life.
  • Sometimes we all need that extra help that a professional can provide - just about keeping your head above water isn’t sustainable in the long term.

Therapy can help you build a better life with better communication by:

  • Providing the support you need to care for yourself while also caring for others—it doesn’t have to be one or the other.
  • Understanding your relationship patterns gives you the power to make choices that serve you.
  • Learning to use your voice helps you communicate clearly, reducing confusion in relationships, family, and work.

Practice description

I started my private practice, at home in Blackburn, because I could see many people, especially parents of neurodiverse children and those with an a-typical family set up, struggling with the challenges that life was throwing at them.

This left them feeling isolated, unheard, and not good enough.

But it’s possible to gain confidence in meeting your own needs and those of the people you share your life with the right support in place.

I have over 5 years experience in private practice, working with a wide range of people who have had relationship and communication difficulties, or have events in their past that have been affecting their present. Prior to this I worked for organisations supporting people through sexual and domestic abuse, so I understand all the complications that relationships can have.

With my own personal experience of being a parent to a neurodiverse child, I know how it feels to be trying to work out how to tackle the challenges that life is throwing at you, with no clear way forward. Therapy can help you to identify what you want and need, and figure out a way to make that happen in your life.

I have helped many people to figure out how to get the life they want, and I can help you to do that too.

I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Central Lancashire. I am currently completing a Specialist Diploma in Neurodiversity Informed Practice. I regularly complete CPD that is relevant to my work and I keep up to date with current trends in the world of psychology and therapy. My work before becoming a therapist has made me aware of the great diversity of situations and challenges that can occur in communities, such as blended families and co-parenting, and social isolation.

Previous clients have said that I have helped them to develop the knowledge and skills they needed in a safe and compassionate space, free of judgement.

So please email me to book an initial consultation, I would love to hear from you.

My first session

For video therapy, I offer an initial 30 minute consultation session at the reduced rate of £30.

If you are then happy to proceed, we will discuss scheduling and any other practicalities.
