About me and my therapy practice
Finding a therapist can feel like a minefield. Ultimately you probably want to find someone to talk to that you feel comfortable with, and who can of course help you. I understand how confusing and nerve-wracking it can be to consider therapy and take the first step. I offer a space for you to tell your story, to talk about what troubles you. You may not know exactly what the sense of dis-ease is about. You may have specific issues to work through or simply want more from life.
I view the challenges that you bring as signs of what you need more of or less of in life rather than a pathology. It may be about working out what it is that you want from life, or addressing a specific issue or problem. I help clients to make sense of things, and like to bring in creative approaches and work with stories and myth.
Some dimensions to my therapy work:
Embodiment – often the place of greatest wisdom, our most reliable guide to what is going on. We will tune in to what is happening in your body.
Thoughts – are helpful to notice. They can be what keeps us stuck, yet ultimately the making sense of things that happens in thought is an important part of change.
Feelings – finding the words for our feelings and emotions can be difficult. Not just talking about feelings but experiencing them in the moment, paying attention to your experience of yourself and the world.
A fourth dimension – we are also more than body, feelings and mind. Words like soul, spirit or higher self could be used, but essentially what gives you connection and meaning. This is also an important lens.
Bringing a mindfulness approach, paying attention, things tend to change and evolve. I also use creative techniques - imagery, drawing and working with stories, if you are drawn to this.
I am also committed to inclusive practice, welcoming clients of different backgrounds and identities.
Practice description
I have a background in psychology, and both BSc and MSc qualifications in psychology. I have worked as a psychologist in the corporate world for 20 years, in leadership consulting and coaching. I came to psychotherapy work seeking more depth and meaning in my work with others. I understand the pressures of corporate life.
I work with:
- people suffering stress and anxiety
- depression, including bipolar
- significant loss and bereavement
- childhood trauma and traumatic life events,
- loss of meaning in midlife
- relationship difficulties
- addiction and co-dependency
- low self-esteem and feeling lost.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in psychosynthesis counselling from The Psychosynthesis Trust, and am completing an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy at Re-vision in London. My training is integrative, includes psychosynthesis and Jungian ways of working with elements of psychodynamic, CBT and developmental psychology. I am a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´.
If you are interested in working with me then please reach out to arrange an initial session. If you would like an initial 15 minute phone/zoom conversation prior to meeting, then let me know. It is up to you how you want your therapy to progress. If we decide to work together after our initial session, I will suggest an initial commitment of 6 sessions though I typically work long term with clients.
My first session
If you are interested in therapy with me, then I would be happy to have a 15 minute phone or video call to enable you to find out more. You can contact me and find out more via my website: https://louiseearletherapy.com/.
Our first session will enable both of us to assess the suitability of our working together. I will ask about your background and interest in therapy, and we can explore working together. It is important we are both comfortable that we are a good fit.
Early sessions will focus on gathering information, getting to know you but in a conversational way and led by you. I will ask background questions as we go. I ask for a commitment of 6 sessions once we have met because it needs this time for you to get a sense if it is for you, and gives us a chance to review things.

I am trained in transpersonal therapy. This means working with feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations. Your challenges will be seen as signs of what you need more of or less of in life rather than a pathology. It may be about working out what it is that you want from life. Often it is about helping you to understand the feelings that you are experiencing today, and how to manage current challenges.
