About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Billie and thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

I am an Experienced Psychotherapist offering services across Essex and surrounding areas and even further a field.

Life can be unpredictable and often things are put in our paths that have an impact on our psychological and emotional wellbeing. Sometimes, these issues can take their toll, causing us pain and suffering, partly due to pushing them to the back of our minds, bottling up or just trying to ignore them in the hope they may just go away. Quite often we try to maintain a brave face and show the world that we can cope, but the reality is when we ignore difficult experiences, feelings and thoughts they are trapped inside. They never really disappear, they stay just in the background within ourselves, continuing to have an impact on our view of self, our relationships, our perception of the world and others.

You may have experienced an issue that is on your mind, or a difficulty has been triggered by a life event or a traumatic experience, such difficulties can affect your life and your relationships, particularly when they haven't been processed. Left unexplored and unexpressed difficult life experience's, feelings and emotions can impact our mental and physical health and further lead us to build and depend on unhealthy coping mechanisms.

A healthy alternative is to look after your emotional and psychological wellbeing by seeking therapy. Talking with a therapist can provide the opportunity to process and work through those difficulties and explore why they might be happening. Therapy also provides an opportunity to gain insight and awareness of yourself that you may not be aware of. With added insight things become clearer, you feel less stuck and your choices for coping and responding become broader and healthier.

I really do believe that you have the strength to not just survive, but to truly thrive.

Practice description

The relationship with your therapist is critical. Therapy is about creating a safe and trusting environment in which you are able to express yourself as freely and openly as possible, where your pain and happiness are both welcome. By being offered a space to be authentic and vulnerable you can truly begin to heal, when we feel truly seen and validated.

Therapy can be Transformational, and that’s what I am here for, the opportunity for you to bring the messy, unfiltered and stuck parts of you. Parts you have hidden from those around you, in therapy you can take that mask off.

We often carry with us our past fears and wounds as well as our painful experiences, leaving us feeling stuck and left living with many emotions and feelings that are overwhelming, often destructive. By exploring you and all of you, gaining an insight and awareness of yourself, your patterns of living, your ways of coping and managing that may not be working or are destructive to you. Therapy can provide information, alternative tools, choices and clarity. Therapy can be empowering and life changing and the reason for that is that you get to be, You.

As an Integrative Psychotherapist I am able to utilise and combine different theories and interventions, this has many benefits to this approach, the most important to know now is that working Integratively enables me to provide the very best therapy for You, a completely individual approach.

Throughout the accumulation of my experience since my initial graduation, I have had the opportunity to work with young people and adults both in the public and private sectors. Working within these sectors I have worked with many individuals with different presenting issues and challenges they were faced with.

My first session

Attending your first session of therapy can be anxiety provoking, wether its a complete new journey or a new start in a journey you have already embarked on.

Prior to your first session we would have spoken briefly, so i would like to think that you would not walk into your first appointment fully unknowing.

In our first appointment its an opportunity to meet and explore, hopefully providing you with an idea of how I work, we work together which is very important.

As well as this, your first sesssion is an opportunity to explore what brought you to therapy in more detail. How we approach this is  different for everyone within the session, but reaching understanding of your wants and goals for therapy is the goal.

About me and my therapy practice

With clinical supervision being an extremely important element to the counselling profession for all professionals , from trainees to the more advanced counsellor/psychotherapist.

My supervision philosophy and belief to a successful supervision practice is anchored within the Integrative approach by being able to utilise and combine the following essential theories; Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Mindfullness.

Embracing and combining all of these theories, I believe aids the supervisee to experience a greater supervisory experience.

Working integratively primarily allows flexibility within my approach to supervision, further allowing myself to be open to working with a wide range of counselling practitioners, sharing knowledge and experience.

Adopting an integrative approach enables the formation and building of a healthy learning environment within the supervisory relationship, something that is essential to any therapeutic relationship and this is a requirement that needs to be emulated from the Counselling relationship to the supervisory relationship.

At its simplest form supervision is defined by the overseeing of another individual, This is the same premise within the counselling profession. It is mandatory to maintaining a healthy and ethical practice adhering to requirements of many professional governing body's, namely the Â鶹ԭ´´. Supervision remains an extremely important component and the opportunity for focus and growth personally and professionally.

Having had the opportunity to conduct individual and group supervision within varied settings and with a wide range of counselling practitioners from trainees to experienced.

I provide supervision to counselling organisations, newly qualifying and qualified counsellors working with adults and young people, with a range of presenting issues.
