About me and my therapy practice

Finding the right counsellor for you is an important first step in your path towards healing.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.  This means I am a fully qualified counsellor who uses different approaches depending on the person I have in front of me.  I believe that you are the expert in yourself;  I believe in being led by my client, and allowing you to bring to the sessions what YOU feel is most important.

Working with me may include some creative work, movement, mindfulness, metaphor, or more structured work such as CBT exercises.  Alternatively, we may decide that the best use of our time is simply to talk.  Sessions are structured in the way that suits you best.

I work with adults and also specialise in adolescents aged 16 and over.

Qualifications:

MEd Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Distinction): University of Cambridge

Certificate in Counselling Skills: AQA

Diploma in Life Coaching

Foundation certificate in Solution Focused Practice

Level 3 award in Education and Training

Other CPD includes: working with young people who self harm, novel psychoactive substances, positive therapy, foundation domestic abuse training, mental health in adolescence, Mental Health First Aid.

Experience includes working with offenders, in sexual health, as a therapist and therapeutic mentor in primary and secondary schools, and school counsellor at a large boarding school.

Practice description

I provide a calm, welcoming and reassuring space for you to explore and address difficulties you may be experiencing in your life, in order to help you find the light side of life again.

The work we do together is whatever you need it to be: some people use counselling as a refreshing non-judgemental space to process the stresses and strains of their day-to-day lives.  Others prefer to have an aim, perhaps to improve relationships, to lift depression and anxiety, or to heal wounds from childhood.

I will walk the healing journey alongside you with humanity, compassion, care and empathy (and likely a good dose of humour at times too!)

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and therapy aims.  This can either be in person in my lovely office in Stamford, online or by telephone appointment.

Following this, appointments are charged at my full rate.

Our first full session will involve a more structured chat in order to assess need, agree therapy aims, explain confidentiality, therapeutic boundaries and agree a therapeutic contract.
