About me and my therapy practice

I am a clinical supervisor and an accredited counsellor & psychotherapist. I'm based in North Edinburgh where I work in private practice.

I have experienced the positive changes that looking at my life in the presence of a warm, accepting and non-judgmental counsellor can bring. The possibility of this is what I aim to offer clients in my own practice.

Counselling & Psychotherapy

Perhaps you’re considering making some changes in your life, or you’re looking for help to address some difficulties that may be hindering your growth.

I am a trauma-aware therapist and I aim to support you with compassion and empathy, and help you explore deeply and better understand the issues that brought you to therapy.

I will accept you as you are and listen without judgement as you try to identify the changes you want to make in your life. I will stay alongside you and help you to challenge yourself as you come to terms with past decisions and make some new ones.

Supervision

My philosophy of practice is person centred. I offer a non-directive but active collaboration in helping you explore your client issues. My aim is to provide a non-judgmental space for you to reflect on your relationship with your clients and explore other aspects of your client work. I also welcome issues from the wider professional and ethical sphere that is of interest to you and therefore potentially impact your client work. I will support and challenge you, and offer learnings from my own experience as a therapist.

Practice description

I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for a number of years with clients from a wide range of race, gender, economic and religious backgrounds.

I am person-centred trained, and my practice is grounded in the core belief that you have the ability to chart the course of your life. My role is to help you rediscover this ability and facilitate the process as you identify and make the cahnges you want in your life. I will listen and challenge you, and help you to explore more deeply, whatever you bring to therapy.

I have taken additional training to help offer a wider means of support to clients. While remaining true to my core principle of non-directivity, I am actively collaborative in my approach.

As a qualified clinincal supervisors I work with supervisees from a range of modalities. I offer a discounted rate for counsellors-in-training.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute free telephone meeting where I will invite you to tell me a bit about what you hope to get from counselling. I will also tell you a bit more about how I work. This is to enable us both to decide whether I am a good fit for you.

This initial 15-minute telephone meeting is also available to supervisees.
