About me and my therapy practice

I specialise in EMDR, which can be absolutely transformative in healing from trauma, as well as a large range of other emotional difficulties. I am an EMDR therapist (via Standard Accredited EMDR Europe-accredited training), an accredited integrative therapist and a clinical supervisor. I have a warm and authentic approach, and offer a safe, collaborative and non-judgmental space where I aim to support your autonomy.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to) trauma, depression, anxiety and other emotional difficulties, low self-confidence, problems in relationships, family issues, eating disorders, clinical perfectionism, abuse, and feelings around intense loss such as bereavement or the ending of a close relationship. My fee is £65 per 50-minute session.

EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy which is included in the NICE guidelines and approved by the NHS and the World Health Organisation as an effective treatment for processing traumatic distress and emotional difficulties. These may present as negative emotions, beliefs, body sensations or mental images and can contribute to a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or relationship issues, for example. As a trauma treatment, EMDR is effective for PTSD, and can also be useful if you have endured physical, sexual or emotional abuse, bullying or harassment, physical/emotional neglect, social humiliation, sudden loss or separation, or suffered/witnessed a traumatic event.

Practice description

During EMDR therapy, we’ll explore how past difficult experiences affect the mind, what patterns they have created for you and collaboratively look at which experiences may need to be processed. You won’t have to explain in detail things that may have happened to you if this is very difficult, and your emotional safety comes first. We’ll begin to use bilateral stimulation to process what is stored. This normally involves eye movements from side to side, similar to rapid eye movement (REM) sleep which happens as we dream. The mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does, and it is actually thought that this natural coping mechanism occurs during our REM sleep. This is the most commonly assumed theory as to why EMDR can be so effective, concluded through extensive research in this area.

I integrate various therapeutic approaches alongside EMDR, and run my therapy practice online using Zoom. I often work in a person-centred way, so I aim support you in exploring your issues, emotions and beliefs, and help you to gain insight and autonomy so you can work towards managing both present and future challenges independently.

Being an accredited, as well as registered, member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ shows I have met their additional criteria for a high standard of training, competence and experience.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you looking for supervision in your work with people with eating disorders? My aim as a clinical supervisor is to offer a collaborative, safe space for you to feel able to slow down and reflect on your practice. If you are working with clients with eating disorders, and seeking a focus on self-care and restoration as well as guidance in this specialised area, these are the key elements of my way of working. It is important to me that you feel comfortable enough in our relationship to bring any concerns you have to our sessions. I have a warm approach and offer a safe container for you to feel able to reflect on your work and your relationships with clients and to enhance your confidence, personal development and ethical competency in your practice.

I run my supervision practice online via Zoom.

Practice description

I trained as a clinical supervisor with The Awareness Centre in London, where I gained a Diploma (w/distinction) in Clinical Supervision, and my core training was in humanistic integrative counselling. I am also an EMDR therapist. I currently work with clients both in private practice and at BIMM University, ICT Theatre, Screen and Film School and the Northern Ballet School. I currently supervise in both private practice and The Priory Hospital.

In my client work with eating disorders, my main style is person-centred and I weave into my approach my training in eating disorders, which comprises SSCM, MANTRA, CBT-E and the National Centre for Eating Disorders programme. I can supervise across differing core modalities and the concepts of supervision I am trained in can be used in different settings.

If you require support in starting up in private practice, I can offer guidance and information for setting up on your own. When working in the field of eating disorders, communication with other health professionals is often needed and together we can explore other factors needing attention; for example, client safety and ethical considerations, legal obligations, online technical requirements, administration, well-being needs, referrals etc.

I am a registered and accredited member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ working under their ethical guidelines, and my supervision practice is supported by my own regular in-depth supervision.

If you are looking for supervision in the area of eating disorders, for me to work with you, you would either need to be currently training in or have completed some training in this specialised area. For example, MANTRA, CBT-E, SSCM or the National Centre for Eating Disorders programme.

(Do feel free to get in touch if you’ve completed any other relevant training in eating disorders and we can always talk further about this.)

My first session

If you would like to discuss starting supervision with me, I offer a free initial consultation lasting up to 20 minutes so we can meet each other first, talk further and see if we could be a good fit. I work online-only via Zoom and my fee for self-funding individuals is £70 per one-hour session. Please contact me for my organisational fee.
