About me and my therapy practice
My name is Anna-Lou and I am a trained, accredited and experienced Integrative Psychotherapist (UK, 2023) and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (UK, 2020) with my initial training in Art Therapy (The Netherlands, 2006) who specialises in developmental trauma. My fields of specialism are victims of crime, domestic violence and sexual violence as well as cared for children, fostering and adoption. I work predominantly with children and young people but can on occasion work with adults. I am based in Jarrow and I also work in all communities throughout North and South Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Northumberland. I am a proud member of CCC, a private practitioner and I am a Clinical Coordinator at Children North East. I can work in-person and online.
I am an eclectic individual who lives happily in the North East. I have lived in a few places around the world and have always made it an important part of my life in each country to understand the culture I lived in.
Due to my background I am also involved in the art and creative community and I am always thinking about new art projects! I love what I do and I love connecting with others.
Practice description
My main aim is to allow clients to feel welcome and comfortable with me. While we get to know each other I am looking for what your interests are, whether you are creative or playful, interested in meditation or if you'd prefer to talk.
My main 'language' is art and I will always return to my roots which means that I can use art in a wide variety of ways from 2D to 3D as well as multi-media. I have integrated Sand Tray work into my therapy, as well as drumming, music, play, sport and dance. Somatic work and different theoretical models such as TA and Gestalt.
My first session
During the first session we will go through an assessment in order for me to understand you or your child better, this is also the time to see if we are a fit and if you would like to go ahead and work together. I also make use of standardised outcome measures and will work towards clear contracts and goals for the therapeutic process.

I particularly enjoy working with practitioners who are in a 'stuck phase' of their practice and are looking to move their practice in a new direction whilst having their clinical work held and carefully supervised. I am happy to work online, in-person and either individually or in supervision groups.
My first session
Our initial session will be to see if we are a fit and enjoy working together. I find it important that at this stage we can make the decision to work together or to decide it is not going to be a fit.
I will also go through the supervision contracts with you and ascertain where in your clinical journey you are and what you need from supervision. Within the first session I would need you to outline your practice and ratio needs.
