About me and my therapy practice

People seek therapy for a wide range of reasons. Some may be navigating challenges in their personal lives, such as difficulties in relationships or issues at work. Others may find themselves grappling with unexpected life events, such as bereavement, a diagnosis of infertility, or illness. For some, there may be a sense that their relationship with themselves isn’t what they want it to be, leading them to want to explore their inner world more deeply.

In a world that can often feel harsh and unforgiving, it’s common to unconsciously hide parts of ourselves for protection. The unique gift of therapy is the opportunity to bring your whole self into the room—even the parts you may feel uncertain about or have tried to keep hidden. Together, we can explore these aspects in a space of compassion, acceptance, and understanding.

Practice description

As a qualified integrative therapist with a focus on psychodynamic theory, I work from the perspective that our past experiences significantly shape our present realities. By helping clients explore and process their personal histories, I aim to facilitate a deeper understanding of themselves. This process often fosters greater self-awareness, positively influences relationships, and enhances a sense of meaning and purpose in life.

Working within the therapeutic relationship is central to my approach. The dynamics that emerge during sessions often offer profound insights into a client’s perceptions of themselves and their relationships with others. These in-session experiences can provide a deeper understanding and enhance the connections between themes we are already exploring.

Given the importance of the therapeutic relationship, I meet with clients on a consistent weekly basis. The regularity and predictability of sessions—held at the same time and day each week—help to establish a stable and trusting environment, which I believe to be essential for meaningful progress.

The belief that each person is worthy of being loved, cared for, and respected underpins my work as a therapist. It informs the way I approach my clients, ensuring the therapeutic space is one that is accepting, safe, and confidential.

My first session

I offer prospective clients a free 20-minute telephone consultation to provide an opportunity for us to discuss your needs and explore any questions you may have about starting therapy. This initial conversation is an important step in determining whether we are the right fit and ensuring you feel comfortable before committing to the therapeutic process.

The initial session is an opportunity to see how we can work together, explore your expectations and desired outcomes from therapy, and for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the process. Offering you a safe space to be seen and heard is my top priority.
