About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can seem "too much". Maybe you are feeling stuck and not sure how to move forward? If you are in a place of overwhelm, counselling can help you to talk through your feelings, explore who you are and learn to cope with the struggles that life can bring.

Maybe your child is struggling and would benefit from the support of a counsellor?

I offer a calm and supportive space where I will listen without judgement, something which may be difficult to find when confiding in friends or family.

I have previously helped clients with:

Anxiety

Exam Stress

Neurodivergence

Depression

Self-Image

Chronic illness

Talk therapy can feel difficult for some of us, so some creative interventions such as games, drawing, mindfulness or grounding techniques can be helpful. Fidget toys are available if they help you or your child to feel more comfortable in sessions.

I understand what a big step it can be to reach out for counselling, so I offer a free 20 minute call or zoom to discuss your counselling needs and to answer any questions you may have. The initial call should give you and/or your child an idea of what it will be like to work with me and to see if you feel I am the right therapist for you/your child.

I believe it is important to find a therapist you feel comfortable talking to, where a trusting relationship can be created.

Practice description

I offer online sessions on various days throughout the week for those aged 16 and above. I hold in person sessions for young people aged 11+ and adults from comfortable therapy rooms in Margate and Sidcup, Kent. I also offer walk and Talk therapy.

If you would like to book a free 20 minute introductory call, please contact me and state whether you are looking for in person or online sessions and we can discuss how therapy may benefit you or your child, I can answer any questions you have.

My first session

For young people I offer an initial call either with a parent or both parent and child together depending on age and what your child feels most comfortable with.

There is an option for parents to attend the first ten minutes of the first session with their child and going forward sessions will be for the young person only unless discussed and agreed prior to the session. This is so the young person can get the most from their therapy sessions and have a supportive space that is just for them.

After our initial call if you decide you would like to book a first session we will schedule at a time and day that is most convenient for you.

In the first session, I will spend some time getting to know you. I will explain the counselling agreement that I will send prior the the first session and I can answer any questions you have.

There will then be some questions I will ask in relation to any previous therapy, health conditions and to gain an understanding of what you would like from your sessions. I may take some notes in the first session and ask you to complete an assessment form proper to the session.

In the first session with young people, parents may attend for the first ten minutes to go through assessments and forms and ask any questions.

Some young people may find the first session overwhelming or are unsure what to talk about. So we may use cards or play games to get to know each other in the first session or over the first few sessions if that helps you to feel comfortable. Movement around the room is welcomed as well as use of fidget toys and we may explore creative options as well as talk therapy if that feels right for you!
