About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling with life's day to day challenges?  Do you find it difficult share your thoughts and feelings with others. I'm here to offer a warm, welcoming and confidential space where you will have your time to talk and where hopefully we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship. We are all individual and unique and although I will offer advice and intervention where needed ultimately you are your own expert in yourself and your own life.

I have trained as a Psychodynamic therapist but work with clients  interrogatively with Person-Centred, Solution focussed, C.B.T. and Mindfulness all tailored to your needs. I will welcome and support you in whatever you bring to therapy, listening to you and working with you to explore, reflect on and regain insight into yourself,  your situation, your past and how that has brought you to who you are today.

I have supported clients from a range of ages and backgrounds, working with issues including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, anger, loneliness, relationships, domestic / sexual abuse, loss and trauma. For me, it is the greatest privilege to support someone through their darkest moments and to witness the personal growth and development that therapy can bring.

Counselling can be a fascinating process of self-discovery, helping you to understand how you became the person you are and to think about how you might want to move forward as you develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance.

Every client and every therapeutic process is different, and I will always value you as a unique individual, with the utmost respect for the journey you have navigated and the place you find yourself in now.

About me and my therapy practice

Couples counselling is designed to help you both cultivate a more rewarding relationship while gaining a deeper understanding of life, love, and togetherness.

鈥淏efore we can forgive one another, we have to understand one another.鈥 - Goldman

Couples counselling focuses on your relationship, supporting you in working together to create a loving and fulfilling partnership. My approach maintains neutrality, ensuring that no sides are taken. This allows us to explore, understand, and identify the concerns, hurt, and anger within your relationship, while also recognizing the positive aspects of love and support that exist.

Each partner鈥檚 history and background can significantly influence the relationship, shaping beliefs, values, and expectations. Sometimes, these differences can lead to misunderstandings or clashes. Therefore, couples counselling often involves gaining a better understanding of both yourself and your partner, fostering a deeper appreciation of each other鈥檚 beliefs and values, which can lead to a more harmonious connection.

It鈥檚 essential to note that the decision to stay together or separate rests solely with you as a couple; it is not the therapist's role to make that choice. Couples therapy provides a safe environment for you to explore your desires for the relationship, examine how you connect and communicate, and address conflicts and expressions of love.

With training and experience working with various types of couples, I encourage you to attend weekly, in-person sessions at my practice or online to maximise the benefits of counselling.

Practice description

Couples counselling can be short-term (6 to 12 weeks) or long-term (6 months or more), depending on your relationship's current situation and your mutual goals.

The duration will be influenced by the depth of issues you face, and we will discuss these factors to establish a shared understanding of both your needs.

My first session

The first session will be 1 and a half hours long,  a gathering of information and settling in stage. An assessment will be made to help us to form a plan going forward.

Should either of you require an individual session to talk about personal issues this can be arranged and is encouraged
