About me and my therapy practice
My name is Katrina Fassnidge, and I am a Humanistic Psychodynamic Therapist, Reflective Practice Group Facilitator Supervisor, Trainer and Course Director.
Having initially trained as an Integrative Counsellor (Person-Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic) I then further developed my skills, knowledge and practice in qualifying as a Psychodynamic Therapist.
Offering a modern day approach to psychodynamic therapy, which is based on a Humanistic core model by being led by you in what you wish to bring to your sessions. During your sessions we will consider and explore your attachment to others, patterns of behaviour within your past and current relationships as well as your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
I am able to offer Creative Therapy, whereby you will have access to the creative resources within the therapy room and we can use a variety of other therapy media, such as artwork, puppets, sand tray, in order to enable you to process your thoughts, feelings and emotions which will enhance and enable your therapeutic journey.
If sitting in a therapy room is not for you I am trained in Walk N Talk Therapy where you can take your therapy into the outside environment be able to ground and reconnect yourself with nature.
Looking for someone to facilitate a group whether this is a reflective clinical practice group, supervision groups or client reflective groups. Then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Practice description
When you contact me either by e-mail or mobile phone, we can book a suitable day and time for a 15 minute initial consultation (there is no charge for this initial consultation).
Following the telephone initial consultation you will have the opportunity to book a convenient day or evening appointment to commence your therapy sessions.
During your sessions this is your time to bring what ever you feel is relevant to you in that moment in time. For example: It could be something which has been bothering you from the past, present or future. If it is important to you this will be important to me.
The space that I provide within the therapy room is safe, secure and confidential. My hope is that you too will feel this to also be a safe and secure place for you to bring matters of the heart which you maybe finding too painful, upsetting or triggering to share with others.
What you share with me is confidential unless you disclose to me anything which maybe breaking the law.
Experience in working with children and young people from the ages of 9 years - 18 years; adults from 18 years - onwards.
Clients I have worked with bring a variety of themes and the following are just a few: ADHD, adultery, anxiety, bereavement, childhood sexual abuse (current or historic), depression, divorce, eating disorders, fear of separation from a significant other, grief, guilt, loss, miscarriage, Obsession Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic attacks, parents whose children have been sexual abused, rape, separation, sexual abuse (current and historic), shame, childhood trauma and trauma for military personnel and their partners.
Ability to work on fixed-term/short-term or long-term contracts depending on your own financial budget or if your organisation or insurance company are funding your sessions.
My first session
Prior to your first therapy session you will be issued with a Client Therapy Contract which has your personal information (name, address, contact no. and e-mail address); the day, time and location where will we meet; charges per session and where and how these are paid; cancelling a session or if you are unable to attend at short notice.
During the first session we will review the Client Contract Together and if you have any questions or queries these can be raised with me so that I can clarify any points with you.
Also, during the first session I may fill out an assessment form which has your personal information as above. If a child or young person their parent/guardian will be asked to complete an assessment form. This is to initially establish is you have any physical health or mental health that I need to be aware of and if necessary discuss this during the first session so going forward we have a plan in place. About me and my therapy practice
Experienced and qualified Clinical Supervision with trainee counsellors and qualified counsellors.
Experienced and qualified to train adults in further education or within CPD settings.
Experienced and qualified in organising peer supervision groups, facilitating reflective practice groups for qualified clinicians.
Experienced with the developing, organising and facilitating CPD training groups.
Prior to becoming a qualified counsellor have worked within charities, Higher Education, Primary and Secondary Schools working with children and young people with special and education needs; NHS and Offender Health; Law Courts and Solicitors where I managed, maintained, developed training courses.
Practice description
My supervision comes from the Seven Eye Model and very much the felt sense.
Supervision I feel should be like a comfortable pair of slippers where you are able to feel safe, secure and comfortable within the supervision session hopefully this will then enable you to being open, honest and congruent to discuss and explore with me those difficult moments; thoughts feeling and emotions you may feel or have towards your client(s) within their counselling sessions.
During supervision whether you are a student or a qualified counsellor/therapist just as I view my clients holistically I also view supervisees holistically so supervision is just more than your case load or tick box.
For me it is about you getting the most out of the session working within your Ethical Framework and competencies. Exploring any ethical dilemma's which you feel have arisen with your client(s) or during supervision I may raise an ethical dilemma that you may not have considered.
Allowing time also during supervision to focusing on your own learning, development, growth, self-care and well-being ensure you are complying with your professional membership requirements. For example Â鶹Դ´ require 30 hours CPD per year.
My first session
During our first session we will discuss the Supervision Contract, the frequency you wish to have supervision and we will explore the expectations of your supervision and the expectations from your professional membership. For example: Â鶹Դ´ student on placement is required to have 1 hour of supervision per fortnight.
The frequency would depend on your requirements and what your Â鶹Դ´ requires you to do per month. e.g. a Â鶹Դ´ Student Member who is on placement will require 1 hour per fortnight or a Â鶹Դ´ Individual Qualified member will require 1.5 per calendar month.
