About me and my therapy practice
My name is Caroline, and I am a humanistic and integrative counsellor. I work with individual adults and couples, and I run therapeutic writing groups and offer counselling by email. There is much more information on my website: https://carolinehukins.com
I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space for you to explore difficult thoughts, feelings, behaviours, circumstances, or relationship challenges.
Together we will explore what is happening for you; identify the issues, patterns or relationships that might be causing you distress; look at the influence of past experience on what is happening now; consider any changes that you may want to make and what gets in the way. I see it as a joint exploration, rather than me telling you what to do.
My training includes person-centred, psychodynamic and relational approaches to therapy. I have worked a lot with grief, illness, bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem.
Practice description
I offer counselling for individual adults and couples. I can see clients in person in my garden office in Ashton Keynes (near Cirencester or Swindon).
I also offer counselling online, meaning that I can see you wherever you live, without incurring the time or expense of travelling. Another option is email counselling, if you are in a situation that makes it difficult to attend at a fixed appointment time.
I charge £50 for individuals, for a 50 minute counselling session.
I charge £85 for couples, for an hour-long session.
I have a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling; a Certificate in Relationship Counselling; and a Practitioner Certificate in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes. I am an Accredited Member of Â鶹Դ´, and fully insured and I have supervision in place for all my work.
Until recently, I worked for We Hear You (https://www.wehearyou.org.uk/), providing counselling to people affected by cancer or bereaved through illness; and also at Cotswold Counselling, a low-cost therapy service.
My first session
I know it can be daunting to take that first step to meet with a counsellor. The most important thing is to find someone you feel you can speak to openly and honestly. I recognise you may meet with more than one counsellor in trying to find the right person for you at this time.
Even if you decide not to go ahead, I suggest that having a full session is very helpful to better understand what you are struggling with, to experience working with me, and to decide if this therapeutic relationship would be helpful for you.
