About me and my therapy practice
Specialising in supporting individuals living with chronic health conditions.
I’m Claire, a therapist based in Bristol. I specialise in supporting individuals living with long-term health conditions or chronic health conditions, health-related anxiety and the emotional challenges that often accompany these experiences. Living with a chronic health condition can make daily life feel overwhelming, and can impact your relationships, your identity and sense of self or self-esteem. The constant challenges and uncertainties may leave you feeling exhausted or emotionally drained, especially when the condition is a lifelong reality.
Many people often keep the impact of their condition hidden, and discussions about the mental health effects of living with a long-term condition remain unnoticed.
I offer a supportive and understanding space for individuals living with long-term health conditions to explore their experiences. Together, we can help you build resilience, empower you to adapt to life with a chronic health condition, and create meaningful change
I also work with individuals facing a range of other difficulties, including anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and unresolved issues rooted in your childhood/ past experiences that affect your present life.
Whether you’re seeking support to navigate life’s challenges, process past experiences, or foster personal growth, my goal is to help you feel heard, valued, and empowered to take steps toward meaningful change.
I take great care in respecting the courage it takes to seek support and value the individuality of each person I work with.
If you're ready to begin this journey, I would be privileged to walk alongside you as you explore, grow, and move toward greater self-discovery and inner strength. Together, we can create meaningful, lasting change.
Practice description
As an integrative therapist, I blend various therapeutic approaches to create a personalised and flexible experience for each client. Drawing from models such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and compassion-focused therapy, I adapt my methods to meet your unique needs, recognising that each person’s journey is different. Our sessions will consider all aspects of your wellbeing, such as emotional, mental, physical, and social, allowing us to explore past experiences, address thought patterns, or build practical skills for managing life’s challenges. My goal is to offer a supportive, adaptable approach that evolves with you, fostering growth, self-discovery, and positive change.
I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds using an integrative approach tailored to individual needs. I supported clients dealing with a range of issues, including long-term health conditions, depression, social anxiety, health anxiety, anticipatory anxiety related to health concerns, phobias, bereavement and self-esteem.
In my work with university students, I focused on helping them balance academic pressures with personal challenges, empowering them to reach their academic goals and manage the unique demands of student life.
I offer in-person sessions in Bristol on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and online and telephone sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and early afternoons.
I offer an initial free of charge 15-minute telephone/online consultation for you to introduce yourself and talk about the reasons you’ve come to therapy. If you then decide that you’d like to work with me, I can offer flexibility with short-term or longer-term work.
My first session
During our first session, I will take the time to understand your current challenges and explore the difficulties you are facing. We will also go through the counselling agreement, and there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the agreement, how I work, or my practice. As part of our discussion, we may explore any potential risks to your wellbeing and establish whether you have a support network in place. Together, we will begin to identify what you are looking for from therapy/ therapy goals and work collaboratively towards fostering positive change and personal growth.
