About me and my therapy practice

I am a Play and Creative Arts Therapist and have experience of working with young people aged between 3-21 years old. I take a holistic and integrative approach that considers developmental trauma, attachment styles, sensory processing needs, developmental needs and family functioning. I can offer family work and sibling work as well as one-to-one sessions. Talking doesn’t come easily to everyone and so using arts to process difficulties can often provide effective ways for people to understand themselves, their experiences and their relationships. Playing and creating can be a powerful vehicle for deeper exploration and healing.

I have additional training in:

- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

- Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy

- Theraplay, MIM &Group Theraplay

- Solution Focused Brief Therapy

- Family Links Nurturing Programme

- Supervision

I have over 8 years' experience of working with children, young people and parents therapeutically in a trauma-informed way and I have 20 years' experience of direct work with children, young people and their families. I have worked as a School Counsellor, in children’s social care, the youth offending service, the NHS, within multiple schools and in a consultancy role for a private company.

I have worked with young people with the following presenting difficulties; developmental trauma, sexual harm, gender- questioning, neurodiversity, loss, bereavement, childhood and relational trauma, traumatic events, intergenerational trauma, adoption and foster care, children in Local Authority residential care homes, identity difficulties, disordered eating, sexually harmful behaviour to name a few. I regularly undertake therapeutic assessments and write review and ending reports.

Practice description

I aim for supervision to be a safe and empathic relationship where supportive challenging can bring out about growth. I hope to create an environment where you feel empowered and inspired.

I work using the seven-eyed supervision process model, this ensures a holistic view takes place within the supervision space; considering the client, supervisee and supervisor. I have a Certificate in Supervision (post grad level 7) and currently supervise social workers in my role within a fostering agency.

I have my own clinical supervisions with a Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who is also a Psychodynamic Organisational Psychotherapist.

My first session

As a supervisor I like to have an initial consultation to understand what your needs, goals and desires are from clinical supervisions. It is important to create a working contract that sets out our expectations of each other, this ensures you receive the service you are paying for and also supports us to review our work together.
