About me and my therapy practice
Are you finding yourself struggling with day to day life or a specific issue or problem? Do you feel anxious, angry, sad, lonely or have low mood?
Is your relationship with some else or all relationships feeling strained? Would you like to understand what is happening, to change or improve your relationship or relationships with others? Maybe you want to move on from a relationship but are struggling with your emotions.
Perhaps a past event is affecting your present?
It could be that you would appreciate a space where you will feel listened to and can use the time to talk unapologetically about your feelings and problems without judgement, advice or criticism.
Talking about your concerns, hopes, fears and emotions in counselling can (amongst other things) help you to feel less overwhelmed; enable you to explore and understand yourself better; to navigate relationships better or to explore past events and how they impact you today.
Areas I have worked with include but are not limited to Affairs/infidelity, anger, anxiety, bullying - past or present, depression, family issues, life changes, loneliness, low self confidence, low self esteem, loss, men’s issues, perimenopause/menopause, redundancy, relationship issues - romantic, friends, family or colleagues etc, separation and divorce, stress, work related issues.
Practice description
There are many different ways for counsellors to gain an understanding of their client’s emotional world. I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I integrate various theoretical approaches that are tailored to suit your needs. I draw on the theory from Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and some elements of CBT. However, I believe that the quality of the relationship between you and I is key to helping you get the most from your counselling sessions. What I bring to sessions includes my life experience, my training and my desire to enter your world.
Sessions are in person at my counselling room on the outskirts of Andover where there is free onsite parking. The building is in a private courtyard.
My first session
If you think that you may like to work with me, I offer a free initial 15 minute phone call where we can discuss your needs, I can answer any questions that you may have and we can discuss the next steps. I can be contacted by email or phone. I aim to respond to you as soon as possible.
If having had an initial chat, you would like to go ahead with counselling the next step will be to book a 50 minute session. This first session will not be like a normal counselling session. It is your opportunity to make sure you feel comfortable with me and we can both decide if we are the right fit for one another. It is absolutely fine if you decide that we are not right for each other. It is important that you find a counsellor who is right for you.
During this initial session we will consider and discuss elements of the contract, discuss confidentiality, your goals (desired outcomes), consider any risks, your expectations of counselling and any questions that you may have.
