About me and my therapy practice
My name is Gemma and I am an Integrative Counsellor.
Meaning I work with my clients on an individual basis.
The core of my work is person-centred, I then introduce and incorporate aspects of CBT, Gestalt and Psychodynamic theory to suit the client and their needs.
I offer a warm, friendly and confidential space for you to share and explore your feelings.
Therapy can help you feel heard, allowing you to process your thoughts in a non judgemental safe space.
I can help you work through the uncertainty you maybe feeling, allowing you to gain clarity and begin to process.
My first session
Prior to the first session, I offer a free 15 minute telephone call for any questions you may have with regard to counselling and inform of the next steps. It’s an opportunity to get to know one another briefly and see if counselling feels right for you.
The first session can look very different due to nerves of meeting someone new. I will aim to put you at ease and answer any questions you may have.
At the start of the session it's a normal process to complete an assessment it doesn't take long.
Below is an example of what is included in the assessment. (Please note: Example doesn't cover all points in assessment) :
1) What has brought you to therapy.
2) Support required during/outside of sessions
3) Discuss what you would like to achieve from therapy.
The session is then over to you and a chance to share you’re story.
Types of therapy
CBT, Gestalt, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Psychodynamic
