About me and my therapy practice

Therapy can be a great tool for restoring life balance and bringing about positive change. It can help you to understand more about yourself, your thoughts, and your emotions. Therapy could be beneficial if day to day life feels overwhelming or if you have difficult life experiences that you feel ready to explore. Perhaps you can be highly critical of yourself. You might regularly experience emotions that feel unmanageable and overpowering OR you may often find yourself entirely disconnected from how you’re feeling. You might want to learn more about yourself and your relationships with others.

I have years of experience working with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, relationship issues, bereavement, traumatic life experiences, shame and self-criticism. More recently I have begun to offer more specialist psychotherapeutic support to those in the perinatal period (and beyond). I work with many mothers who have found the transition to parenthood distressing and difficult. This time in our lives can bring about huge change, some of which we might have never anticipated.

As a therapist my approach is warm and compassion-focused. I ensure that all work is trauma-informed and highly collaborative, with the intention of bringing about a greater sense of empowerment.

Working integratively with multiple modalities ensures that we can tailor our sessions to your individual needs.

Practice description

I am a registered member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ and hold an MSc. in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means I combine a range of theories and techniques to inform my practice and to shape the therapeutic experience to each client's unique needs and preferences.

The modalities I integrate include attachment theory, the person centred approach and cognitive behavioural therapy. I have also trained in the theory and practice of compassion focused therapy.

I have been running my own part-time private practice for 5 years and am able to offer weekly or fortnightly evening and weekend sessions to more easily accommodate busy parents.
I'm an associate practitioner within a local therapy centre and community interest group which offers mental health support services to children, young people and adults. It's from this location that I offer face to face sessions, though these spaces are in high demand.
