About me and my therapy practice

Facing challenges in your personal or work life? Feeling stuck, low or anxious? Want to work with a counsellor as a Couple or in your Relationship?

There is a good chance that I can help.

My strength is co-creating a connected relationship where you feel deeply listened to. Where you can share what you couldn’t admit to yourself. Over time we will unpack what is happening so you can move forward. You’ll feel better and you’ll be able to make lasting changes.

Couples and people in Relationships will rapidly improve communication and shift from being stuck to greater connection.

🟢 Feeling disconnected from yourself or others? Confused, lonely and exhausted from trying to figure things out on your own?

🟢 Don’t want to burden friends or family or, feeling unsupported?

🟢 Uncertain about yourself and your life or, that you are simply not living the life you want to.

We’ll use Transactional Analysis to shed light on what is happening in you and between you and others. Drawing on my experience and expertise in understanding broader influences [work, gender, sexuality, culture, family dynamics, society] on your individual experiences you will be able to diagnose what is happening for you.

🟢 You’ll learn about your patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours— where they are helpful and where they are not

🟢 With two minds we can untangle the patterns moving toward self-compassion and the person you want to be.

🟢 All those things that are hard to say in usual conversations are welcome here where we work relationally and co-creatively to break free and gain new perspectives.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, or your fifth, I provide a unique environment to support you in a confidential space to explore these complex thoughts and feelings whilst gently challenging you, where it is beneficial, in finding a way forward.

Practice description

Relationships – Navigating the complexities of relationships with ourselves and others. (Friendships, family, colleagues and partners).

Life Stages and Events – Understanding how past and current life stages and events are shaping our thoughts, emotions and behaviours. This includes the significance of how rites of passage from childhood through to adulthood have shaped our identities and influence our perspectives.I offer six and twelve week short-term therapy and long-term, or open-ended sessions for individuals.

Sessions are payable in advance.  If you need to cancel a session, three days' notice is required.

Something about me

Worked with the low cost counselling organisations MCPS, EACS and more recently CAPE who aim to bridge the gap between NHS Mental Health services and the community for people with enduring mental health challenges.

Before qualifying as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I was an Executive in global senior roles within FTSE 100 organisations. As a result I have a deep understanding of the pressures of high performance environments and the impact of organisational cultures on teams and individuals.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ruth, and I help people who, despite their success struggle with self-doubt, managing conflicting needs of others and want to feel more congruent. My approach is attentive, thought provoking and holding. Helping you to make sense of what is happening and your resultant thoughts and feelings, so you can move forward. If you’re ready to take the next step, get in touch—I’d love to help.

Do you sometimes feel a sense of disconnect, as if something integral is missing? Have you been feeling ungrounded even though you have security? Is how you are feeling impacting your sense of self and your current relationships? Maybe you  sometimes feel out of place, different or question your value and place in the world. Is it hard to articulate how you feel and when you do folks simply minimise or dismiss them because you appear to be on top of things?

I understand the complexities of identity, belonging, and the emotional challenges that often come with being in this complex and demanding world.

My own experiences have allowed me to connect deeply with individuals who are navigating life in London, offering a perspective that is both empathetic and insightful.

My experience as an career changer has instilled in me the value of self-discovery, emotional healing, and building meaningful connections. I am committed to helping you work through the layers of your own experiences. I work co-creatively tailoring our work to meets your individual needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence in your ability to navigate challenges.

Working with me can help you with greater self-awareness and in finding a more secure sense of your authentic self. Over time you will develop coping mechanisms supporting you in building stronger relationships.

Therapy can also help you in re-building your self-worth, understanding why you are the way you are, reinforcing a sense of inherent value and self-respect.

Practice description

I have built a practice for like-valued practitioners.  I value difference in thinking and being and respect for each other is central to the practice. Disillusioned with the spaces available for practitioners, which tended to be worn out clinical places, I have created a vibrant and soulful practice that values the practitioners and clients who use the space.

My first session

I practice single session therapy for existing and new clients in addition to short and long term therapy.

Before you arrive for your session I will send details of how to find the location and how to gain access when you are here. Please arrive on time and not too early as I can't always let folks in early.

When you arrive you'll have a few moments to get used to the space. If this follows an initial consultation call I will start by asking how you have been since our conversation. If we are meeting for a single session I will ask what has brought you in and what you hope to achieve in the session.

The remainder of the 50 minutes session feels conversational and you'll soon relax.
