About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ruth, and I help people who, despite their success struggle with self-doubt, managing conflicting needs of others and want to feel more congruent. My approach is attentive, thought provoking and holding. Helping you to make sense of what is happening and your resultant thoughts and feelings, so you can move forward. If you’re ready to take the next step, get in touch—I’d love to help.

Do you sometimes feel a sense of disconnect, as if something integral is missing? Have you been feeling ungrounded even though you have security? Is how you are feeling impacting your sense of self and your current relationships? Maybe you  sometimes feel out of place, different or question your value and place in the world. Is it hard to articulate how you feel and when you do folks simply minimise or dismiss them because you appear to be on top of things?

I understand the complexities of identity, belonging, and the emotional challenges that often come with being in this complex and demanding world.

My own experiences have allowed me to connect deeply with individuals who are navigating life in London, offering a perspective that is both empathetic and insightful.

My experience as an career changer has instilled in me the value of self-discovery, emotional healing, and building meaningful connections. I am committed to helping you work through the layers of your own experiences. I work co-creatively tailoring our work to meets your individual needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence in your ability to navigate challenges.

Working with me can help you with greater self-awareness and in finding a more secure sense of your authentic self. Over time you will develop coping mechanisms supporting you in building stronger relationships.

Therapy can also help you in re-building your self-worth, understanding why you are the way you are, reinforcing a sense of inherent value and self-respect.

Practice description

I have built a practice for like-valued practitioners.  I value difference in thinking and being and respect for each other is central to the practice. Disillusioned with the spaces available for practitioners, which tended to be worn out clinical places, I have created a vibrant and soulful practice that values the practitioners and clients who use the space.

My first session

I practice single session therapy for existing and new clients in addition to short and long term therapy.

Before you arrive for your session I will send details of how to find the location and how to gain access when you are here. Please arrive on time and not too early as I can't always let folks in early.

When you arrive you'll have a few moments to get used to the space. If this follows an initial consultation call I will start by asking how you have been since our conversation. If we are meeting for a single session I will ask what has brought you in and what you hope to achieve in the session.

The remainder of the 50 minutes session feels conversational and you'll soon relax.

About me and my therapy practice

You've taken the first, often daunting step - now I'll make the next ones easier.

Saying things out loud can be a relief. When we talk, you'll notice how much lighter you feel to share what is on your mind and have someone reflect back your experience with compassion.

Every therapeutic relationship is unique, but my clients often tell me they feel heard, empowered more able to face life's challenges. Whether you are struggling with personal difficulties, work challenges, or a sense of stuckness therapy provides time and space to unpack your situations and emotions and move toward lasting change.

HOW I WORK

I tailor therapy to your individual needs, but some things remain constant:

🟢 You’ll gain insight into your thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors—both helpful and unhelpful.

🟢 With two minds working together, we’ll untangle old patterns and move toward self-compassion.

🟢 Things that feel hard to say in everyday life are welcome here—we’ll work through them together, gaining new perspectives.

ABOUT ME

My background spans FTSE 100's, small biotech's and the arts giving me a deep understanding of workplace dynamics and the broader influences of work, gender, culture, family dynamics,  and society. I have a special interest gender politics and how these inform the lives of men, women and non-binary individuals. I also work with ADHD - particularly supporting those who live with, love or work alongside neurodivergent people.

If you are feeling weighed down by emotional challenges, therapy offers an invaluable time and space to unpack and grapple with these difficulties. When you feel deeply listened to you can explore your experiences more freely, leading to real change, greater balance and a more meaningful life.

If this resonates, lets talk. I offer a 20 minute free consultation. You don't have to navigate this alone.

Practice description

Therapy is a space to explore your present experiences, understand how they connect to past, and move toward the current and future experience you want.

Whatever you are struggling with I provide a space to explore it. I have experience of working with a range of issues, including:

Stress, Anxiety, Burnout, Depression – Supporting high achievers and those struggling with self-esteem.

ADD/ADHD – Individuals with ADHD and their partners.

Relationships – Navigating the complexities of relationships with yourself and others, including friendships, family, colleagues and partners.

Life Stages and Events – Understanding how past and present experiences shape your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Rites of passage - from childhood to adulthood - play, and continue to play, a powerful role in shaping identity and influencing our perspectives.

I offer short-term therapy as well as long-term or open-ended sessions for individuals.

Something about me

I have worked with the low cost counselling organisations such as MCPS, EACS and CAPE which aims to bridge the gap between NHS Mental Health services and the community for people with enduring mental health challenges.

Before becoming a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor I held senior executive roles in FTSE 100 organisations. This background gives me a deep understanding of the pressures of high performance environments and the impact of organisational cultures on teams and individuals.
