About me and my therapy practice
I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering in person and online counselling and psychotherapy for clients aged 18+ either in person on online via zoom.
Prior to becoming a Psychotherapist I had 20+ years experience in the Holistic Health and Wellbeing Industry, something I also continue to do alongside my work as a therapist.
In addition to the general issues bought to therapy, I am passionate about helping clients who identify as neurodivergent (ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia & Dyspraxia) whether diagnosed or self disagnosed, access therapy in a way that works for them. I also provide counselling support for the parents and family members of neurodivergent people.
My other areas of speciality include, Disordered/Emotional Eating (not Eating Disorders) and corresponding Relationship with body image, Menopause and Peri Menopause.
Prior to setting up in private practice I worked for a Womens charity in South London, offering clients long term (up to 2 years) therapy for a variety of issues.
Practice description
I work in an integrative way. The basis of my training provides a framework with which I am able to integrate and utilise aspects of different counselling theories to provide a tailor-made therapy experience for every client. I use parts work (IFS and Psychology of Selves) to explore the emotional world of each client in a gentle and yet effective way. The aim being that what emerges is a totally unique relationship which often can't be found outside of the therapy room.
Whether we like or know it, we carry the past with us. Every relationship leaves its mark, beginning as an infant. These early relationships are the foundation from which our ability adapt to the complexities of human relationships grows, informing how easily we can get our own emotional needs met.
Patterns of behaviour (coping mechanisms) can form outside of our awareness that can be both helpful - getting needs met or keeping us safe. But also hinder – stopping us from making changes, keeping us stuck unable to move forward.
As a Counsellor and Psychotherapist I am able to offer both shorter fixed term of sessions (Counselling) to focus on a specific issue, usually up to 16 or 20 sessions. Or longer-term open-ended therapy (Psychotherapy). You don’t need to decided straight away, sometimes that only emerges once you have started counselling.
I have experience in dealing with many of the issues that people face daily, such as:-
Anxiety
Childhood trauma
Depression
Emotional/Disordered Eating (not Diagnosed Eating Disorders)
Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity
General Issues
Relationship problems (not couples)
Pressures of work
PMT and PMDD
Menopause/Peri Menopause
Major life changes
Neurodiversity in adulthood
Self-esteem

My first session
I offer an initial free 20 min online session, in which we will briefly chat about your needs from counselling and get a feel for each other.
If you then choose to go ahead – which you don’t have to do on the spot. We will then agree a mutually convenient date and time to starting weekly for a 50 minute session* which can be face to face or online (zoom). In some circumstances I may be able to accommodate a combination of both.
In our first full session we will go through the contract and a short assessment so that I can get to know you and what you are hoping for from our sessions in more detail.
