Availability

Hello, thank you for taking time to read my page.

My counselling work takes place in the evening (6pm - 8pm), each Friday (1pm - 8pm) and on a Saturday morning 10am - 12:30pm.

I work face-to-face, online and over the telephone.  In exceptional circumstances, I can make home visits.  I am able to do 'walk and talk' therapy too, but this is weather dependent!

About me and my therapy practice

Life can be difficult, and sometimes we can just feel overwhelmed with no idea how to make positive and lasting change. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage and I would like to support you in that process.

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor with specialisms in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR, also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your challenges, understand your emotions, gain insight and clarity, and develop coping strategies. I will use my skills and knowledge to meet your unique and specific needs, and to support you with the change you want to see in your life.

I work with children from the age of 9, young people and adults, across a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, domestic abuse, life changes, loss, depression, poor motivation, weight issues, phobia and addiction. I have more than twenty years’ experience within further education, working and supporting young people with special educational needs, mental health issues, ADHD and Autism. If you need a counsellor who has empathy and understanding around these issues, I believe that you can feel confident and comfortable working alongside me.

For the past three years I've been fortunate to be working  within a domestic abuse charity providing counselling and hypnotherapy to survivors of DA. If you are looking for a counsellor who can help you navigate and release the trauma, show you how to create boundaries to keep you (and those you love) safe, and to help you build confidence and self-esteem, don’t hesitate to get in contact with me.

I have an excellent reputation for making my clients feel at ease, and I have a non-judgmental approach and will treat you with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. If you're ready to take the first steps toward change to bring balance, fulfilment and happiness to your life, then I am here to listen, support and empower you.

My first session

The idea of opening up to a stranger, telling them your most worrying thoughts, discussing your emotions, fears, disappointments and unhappiness, is a really big ask. To help you decide whether you feel that I am the right counsellor for you, I offer a 30-minute complimentary consultation. This will give you the opportunity to explore your reasons for considering counselling. You will be able to find out what I can offer you, we can discuss what your goals are, and we can go over some of the important aspects of our therapeutic agreement. If we both feel that we can work together, and you feel comfortable with me as your counsellor, we can schedule a session.

Some clients just want a single session to address an issue that is bothering them, others a set number of sessions to deal with a specific area such as smoking, whilst other clients want a more open-ended approach. I will be able to accommodate you whatever your need. We can have sessions face-to-face, over the telephone or online, perhaps even a mixture, if that suits you better.

If you want counselling for your child, please get in touch and have a chat with me, because the protocols for counselling children is a little different.
