About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for looking at my profile, and welcome. My name is Jenny, I am an experienced therapeutic counsellor, working with adult men and women who wish to transform their relationships in order to live a more harmonious, less anxiety driven lifestyle. Be it with your siblings, spouse, children, parents, colleagues, or all of these, the way I work is to begin with the most important one of all - the relationship we have with ourselves.

We are the ones we live with, 100% of the time. I wake up with me, spend all my day with me then go to bed with me. I carry my body and all my thoughts, feelings and emotions with me everywhere I go, in everything I do. I heard someone once say: wherever you go, there you are. Practical, evidential reality shows us that this ‘I /self’ connection is the closest, most intimate relationship we will ever have.

And yet, so many of us don’t consider how we are behaving towards ourselves. From a very young age, we can become conditioned to focus on the external world, and what we think is going on inside the minds and lives of others. We can fall into lifestyle patterns of self neglect. Often we may think we are ‘treating’ ourselves with certain actions and behaviours that we have been conditioned to see as rewarding. Do these often quick and easy ‘rewards’ bring us anything approaching lasting peace and happiness? Are some of these behaviours ‘numb-outs’ to distract us from the unkind thoughts we think about ourselves and others, and the guilt this brings?

Practice description

Eventually, our bodies will bring us to a halt. We might experience an anxiety attack, develop chronic pain and illness or find that we are having regular accidents and/or forgetting things. Deep within, there is a sense, a knowing that we can’t continue the way we have been going for so long. We may begin to experience this as ‘anxiety wallpaper’, a persistent unease and feeling of restlessness; like we need to break out. Perhaps you are at that point now, and have decided you would like to begin to take better care of the one you live with every day by reaching out and talking to someone who has walked this path.

In my practice you will always be met with warmth and compassion. We explore whatever you would like to bring to our sessions, in a space of non-judgemental awareness. We move at your pace, considering what has been, where you are now and what you would like to change through this process of conscious unfolding. This work we do together is about self discovery and recognising that we have the power to change our minds; to break free from the limiting concepts and behaviour patterns that keep us stuck in feelings of unworthiness, loneliness and suffering.

I know what it is to live with chronic anxiety, shame, unacknowledged trauma and low self worth. I didn’t think there was a way out, until I engaged with talking therapy. My overarching mission is to extend the hand of counselling to anyone who desires to engage in this work. If cost is an issue, let’s talk and see what we can agree.

My first session

The first session is an initial assessment, in which I will ask a number of questions to gain insight into your background, and what it is you would like to address through the therapy process.

If you feel I may be the right therapist for you and would like to explore the possibility of working together, please call for a free initial chat on 07379 184741.

I look forward to hearing from you.
