Availability
I currently have availability both in person and online.
I have several locations where I see clients in the South West corner of the Lake District. Most commonly Whitehaven, Ravenglass and Millom. Other locations are possible depending in what is needed.
Usually I am unavailable on a Thursday and a Sunday.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic, integrative psychotherapist with Transactional Analysis (TA) as my core model.
I work with adults in West Cumbria.
TA is a practical way of understanding ourselves that places both the therapeutic relationship and the individual drive for growth and creativity at the centre of the process. The psychodynamic approach means that the influence of the past, particularly early experience, in shaping a client's current reality is a crucial part of the work we will do together.
I work with a wide variety of people and presenting needs and have a growing interest in neurodiversity, particularly the intersection of neurodiversity and intergenerational trauma.
I am a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´, the UKCP, DBS cleared, ICO registered, insured and have regular 1:1 supervision.
Practice description
I offer both in person sessions in Whitehaven, Ravenglass and Millom (other locations are possible). I also offer on-line sessions.
When you arrive for your sessions I'll greet you at the door and show you to the room. The room varies from place to place but I retain a core of books and useful creative tools for use in all the spaces from which I work.
Clients will be asked to fill in an information form with basic details and sign an administration contract laying out the terms of the work, privacy, safeguarding and ethics policies.
Once we have agreed to work together we will set a date for the first session.
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel a session, otherwise the full session fee is payable. Payment is easy via bank transfer on the morning of the session.
My first session
We will usually begin with a half hour conversation to see if we are a good fit for one another and to iron out the practical details. This will be followed by an assessment session to outline what we are going to work on, and will include some broader questions about your well being and family history. This will happen as part of a conversation and form filling is kept to a minimum and will include an assessment of risk.
Everybody is different and the focus of the first session is to gather information and is an opportunity for us to begin to get to know each other, for me to learn what you want out of therapy, and begin to understand what approach might work best for you.
