About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Ros.
I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I draw on a variety of counselling approaches to suit each client and the issues that they bring. The basis of my practice is person-centred and existential, but I also work creatively to help clients understand their relationships and express their emotions in a non-judgemental space. I also use CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) where appropriate, to help clients change troubling behaviours, such as OCD.
I am a trauma informed counsellor and hold a Professional Certificate in Complex Trauma, and an Advanced Certificate in Grief and Bereavement Counselling, which can cover many different types of loss, not only through death, but also divorce, separation, redundancy, pet loss, friendship loss etc.
I work face-to-face in lovely rooms in Eastleigh, Hampshire, where I also work voluntarily in a low-cost counselling service, Community Counselling. This is important to me as I believe that everyone should have access to counselling when in distress.
Practice description
I offer regular 50 minute sessions, although I will also offer single sessions if you feel you just need to explore a specific problem.
Through my person-centred and integrative approach, I work compassionately and collaboratively alongside every client to help them better understand themselves and how they interact with others in their relationships, in a safe and confidential space. We will work at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. I am interested in learning about you and your unique situation and what you are looking for from therapy. We will review your situation regularly to ensure you are moving in a positive direction from therapy and reflect upon how you are finding the experience.
Struggling with certain challenges and aspects in your life can feel very isolating, and I am here to offer a calm, safe and non-judgemental space to enable you to explore and move through your current difficulties.
Coming to counselling for the first time can feel very scary. Most people feel very nervous but you have shown courage by taking this first step and you can feel safe in knowing that your growth and well-being will be at the heart of my practice.
My first session
I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation face to face, on line or on the phone, so that we can meet, get to know each other a bit and see if we feel that the relationship between us is going to work. It is important that we feel that we can establish trust between us. The relationship between therapist and client is unique - it's not a friendship but it is a very deep relationship, and is non-judgemental and compassionate. It is important that you will feel you can talk to me on the most personal level, perhaps about things that you would not confide in anyone else.
