About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Suzanne. I am curious, gentle and good humoured in how I approach each counselling session. I also aim to be genuine and approachable. I work from central Colchester for face to face sessions or online.  Don’t hesitate to send me an email if you might be interested in seeing if you would like to engage my counselling services.

I understand life can often feel stressful and overwhelming due to various reasons. Counselling can help you understand your behavior patterns, relationship difficulties, past issues, and the origins of your emotional triggers.

In a calm, non-judgmental space, you can listen to yourself and gain understanding, leading to personal growth and development. I am guided by what you bring to our sessions and work collaboratively with you.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I blend Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and CBT counselling styles to listen empathically and provide a space for you to talk. With extensive experience supporting people with diverse emotional needs, I am committed to ongoing learning and regularly attend training courses to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.

My Journey:

My journey as a counsellor began with a sudden family bereavement a desire to understand what was happening to me and a curiosity about why people think, feel, and act the way we do. Since qualifying, I have been fortunate to work with different charities, running bereavement groups in the community and supporting people at the end of life.

Areas of Experience:

Bereavement

Anxiety

Childhood Issues

Relationship Issues

Trauma

Self-Esteem

Depression

Neurodiversity

I am here to listen if you want to talk.

Ways to Work with Me:

Face-to-face: Personal, direct interactions in a comfortable setting.

Online via Teams: Convenient and flexible, allowing for a comfortable space to discuss your concerns.

Telephone: Accessible and flexible support, fitting into your schedule.

Walking sessions: Combining the benefits of physical movement with therapeutic conversation in nature.

Finding the right therapist is incredibly important. It's essential to work with someone you feel comfortable with as you focus on your personal development.

My first session

Getting Started:

I offer a complimentary 20-minute initial telephone consultation, providing an opportunity for us to get to know each other and see how it feels to talk together.

If you decide to proceed, we will schedule a mutually convenient time and day for our sessions.

First Session:

During our first session, we'll complete an initial therapy form together. This will allow you to share your hopes and goals for therapy, setting the stage for our work together.

Counselling Contract:

I also provide you with a blank copy of the counselling contract to take home and review. This ensures you understand the boundaries and expectations of our therapy sessions.
