About me and my therapy practice

My approach to therapy is grounded in the relationship I have with my clients. My practice comes from a place of belief that you understand your life best, and it’s my job to give you space to explore what this means, and empower you to understand yourself, your needs, and work towards living your life in the way that suits you.

I aim to create a therapeutic holding space with empathy and non-judgement that gives you a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and how they influence and guide the way you live, and how you want to work with or change that to live a more fulfilling life. Occasionally this may mean challenging your thoughts and actions in a non-judgemental way, aimed at giving you a safe space to question and understand yourself.

Practice description

My core training is as an integrative practitioner, meaning I have a background in multiple therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, CBT, existential, and psychodynamic. In practice, this means I tailor the therapeutic experience to you, drawing on multiple disciplines to work in a way that suits you and your needs.

Being MA qualified in counselling and psychotherapy, I offer both short-term, goal-oriented counselling, and longer-term, open-ended therapy. We'll talk about which approach feels right for you in our first session and revisit this as needed moving forward.

I hold a Distinction in MA Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales. I maintain a small caseload to ensure all my clients receive due care and attention, and work privately online alongside working sessionally at Cardiff Mind. Previously, I have worked specifically with young adults accessing counselling through their educational institute, Cardiff and Vale College.

My first session

The idea of a first therapy session can feel daunting as you consider what to expect. When we first meet, we’ll start by getting to know each other a little. To begin with, I’ll go over some important information about confidentiality. Then I’ll ask some questions about what’s brought you to therapy, if you have any specific goals, and what you hope to get from our sessions. It’s okay if you find you’re unable to answer these questions. I’ll also share some information about my approach, and give you space to ask any questions you may have.

It's normal to feel nervous or unsure in the beginning, but please know I'm here to support you and help you feel as comfortable as possible. By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer sense of whether we’re a good match and if therapy with me feels like the right path for you. If you decide to move forward, we’ll schedule our next session and start working on your goals together.
