About me and my therapy practice
Taking the step to seek support is a powerful act of self-care. Whether you're struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, or other emotional challenges, therapy offers a space to gain clarity, process emotions, and move toward meaningful change. I have a strong background in mental health, with extensive experience supporting individuals facing addiction, anxiety, and depression. I provide a confidential and supportive environment where we can explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be impacting your life.
My approach helps uncover the deeper influences behind your struggles, empowering you with greater self-awareness and resilience. From my comfortable and well-located therapy rooms, we can work together to make sense of your experiences, address past wounds, and develop the tools needed for lasting change.
About me
- I specialise in helping those facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and addiction issues, although I am experienced in, and available to work across, a wide variety of mental health matters beyond these specialisms.
- I am a registered member of the member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and Addiction Professionals.
- I hold an MSc in Addiction Psychology and counselling from London South Bank University.
- I have extensive experience working in addiction treatment, supporting individuals facing complex mental health challenges alongside addiction. My work has included roles in leading treatment centers such as Humankind, where I helped clients navigate the complexities of co-occurring mental health and addiction issues. Currently, I am a Senior Addiction Therapist at The Priory, North London, where I provide therapy to both inpatients and outpatients recovering from a wide range of addictions. In addition to my clinical work, I support the Addiction Lead by overseeing the Addiction Treatment Programme and leading a dedicated team of addiction professionals.
Practice description
My approach to therapy is rooted in acceptance, empathy, and understanding, with a strong focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we will explore your experiences, uncover valuable insights, and work towards fostering a deeper understanding of yourself, particularly in relation to challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health concerns.
I take into account the full scope of your life, considering the impact of trauma, gender identity, cultural background, social influences, and mental health conditions. These factors shape who you are and the life you are creating, and we will explore how they inform our work together, especially in the context of anxiety, depression, and addiction.
The therapeutic relationship we develop is essential in uncovering unconscious patterns, many of which are rooted in early life experiences. These patterns may show up in your relationships or behaviors, including those related to addiction or the way you cope with anxiety and depression. By exploring the dynamics between us, we can gain powerful insights into how you relate to the world and how others relate to you.
We will also draw on memories of past relationships and experiences with mental health struggles, such as the impact of anxiety, depression, or addiction, to help make sense of current challenges. Additionally, dreams can offer valuable insight into unconscious fears and motivations that may be contributing to your mental health and emotional well-being.
As therapy progresses, you will become more aware of the unconscious influences that shape your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, particularly with regard to mental health, anxiety, depression, and addiction. This increased awareness allows you to regain control over your actions and responses, helping you break free from unhelpful patterns and make healthier choices.
My first session
I offer a complimentary telephone call, both to give us the chance to get a feel for one another, and so that I can begin to understand what you are hoping to achieve in therapy.
The next step is an exploratory face-to-face session, to allow us to think together about what is really happening for you, why you feel psychotherapy could be the next step, and how our work might be helpful.
Should we decide after this to begin working together, sessions will last 50 minutes and generally weekly.
