About me and my therapy practice

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Beth, and I offer online counselling to individuals 18+. I’m based in Liverpool but working online allows me flexibility to work with clients from all around the UK.

I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling and have experience of working with adults and young people, with a wide range of issues.

You may be thinking of starting your counselling journey for a number of reasons. Maybe you’d like support in dealing with current difficulties, such as body image issues, relationship problems, work-related stress, a bereavement, or perhaps you’re wanting to explore a painful experience from your past that still impacts you. Maybe you’re suffering from anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed, lost, and unsure of how to move forward.

Today’s world can be harsh and high pressured, stopping us from having time to reflect and process what we’re going through and what we’ve been through in our past. Counselling allows you that time and space, and this can be hugely beneficial to your wellbeing and all aspects of your life.

As a counsellor, my intention is to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your emotions, thoughts, and issues. My approach is person-centred, meaning I believe everyone has the capacity for growth, we just sometimes need help in navigating our struggles. I believe you are the expert on yourself, so I’m here to sit alongside you, to support you, as we work through things together.

When considering counselling, clients can often feel unsure and nervous, especially if it’s their first experience with counselling. It can feel scary to open up to someone you don’t know and haven't met before. This is quite common and completely normal so I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation before we begin any work together, to give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and for you to get a sense of whether I may be the right counsellor for you.

Practice description

I currently offer online counselling.

For many people, accessing counselling face to face is difficult for lots of reasons, such as mobility issues, accessibility, geography, childcare, anxiety, etc. Some people find it easier to talk about their issues and feelings with a counsellor when they aren't in the same physical room together.

In general, sessions take place somewhere the client feels safe and comfortable, which may be their own home, rather than attending a counsellor’s therapy room or office. Working online also allows for greater convenience in attending appointments as there's no travel required and you can attend from wherever you are located, provided the space is confidential.

My first session

Typically, during our first session together I will ask you to talk to me about what has brought you to counselling.

You're welcome to ask any questions about how we will work together and what you might like to get from our sessions. You might not know this initially and that is ok.

We can also discuss the frequency and number of sessions.

Subsequent sessions will allow you the time and space to explore your issue(s) in more detail and through working together enable you to find the best way forward.
