About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Ashling. I am a psychotherapist registered with the Â鶹ԭ´´.  

As a therapist, I believe in the power of a safe, supportive space where you can explore your emotions and experiences without fear of judgment. I work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches to meet your unique needs and help you gain insight, resilience, and self-compassion.

I have experience working with a variety of people, of different ages, backgrounds and life experiences. I work with individuals struggling with low self-worth, anxiety, low mood, grief, and relationship difficulties among other things. However I'm interested in working with the person rather than the 'issue'.

I understand how these challenges can impact your daily life and sense of self, and I am committed to helping you develop healthier coping strategies, build confidence, and cultivate a more positive and empowered relationship with yourself.

In the therapy room, I bring warmth, authenticity, and a deep respect for your personal journey. Together, we will explore patterns that may be holding you back, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

Practice description

A therapy session with me is a collaborative, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. I work integratively, which means I tailor my approach to your individual needs, drawing from different therapeutic techniques to best support you.

In our sessions, we might begin by checking in on how you’ve been feeling and what’s been on your mind. From there, we explore your challenges in a way that feels safe and manageable, whether that’s unpacking emotions, identifying thought patterns, or working through past experiences that may be affecting your present. I also integrate practical tools and coping strategies that you can apply in your daily life to help manage anxiety, depression, and low self-worth.

I believe therapy is not just about problem-solving but also about self-discovery and growth. My approach is warm, compassionate, and empowering—I’ll meet you where you are and support you in moving forward at a pace that feels right for you. Some sessions may be reflective, while others might involve learning new strategies to challenge unhelpful patterns or build confidence.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and equipped with the tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience and self-compassion.

My first session

What to expect working with me? Firstly, via email, we will arrange an initial 20-minute consultation. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions about the way I work and I will find out a little about you and how therapy can help you at this time. Then we can arrange a regular time and day for our sessions going forward.

Starting therapy can bring up mixed feelings and emotions. My aim is to make your first session feel as comfortable as possible, where the session will go at your pace. The first session is a great opportunity to talk about what's brought you to therapy, whilst also getting comfortable talking to a new therapist.
