About me and my therapy practice
Hi there, I'm Lauren (she/her).
I provide a non-judgemental, warm and empathic environment where you can share your needs, thoughts and explore who you are in a safe and confidential space.
I work collaboratively with each client to establish a therapeutic relationship, which lays the foundation for our work together.
I aim to support you in exploring any issues and challenges, and to develop and deepen an understanding of who you are and how you relate to others.
I am trained in integrative counselling which means that I work within a number of therapeutic approaches including humanistic, existential and psychodynamic modalities. We can work through your past experiences, relationship dynamics, and goals for the future in a way which feels right for you.
In the same way that each person and their stories are unique, our therapeutic experience will be unique, and I will focus on what you decide to bring to each session.
I view therapy as a constantly evolving and collaborative process and my aim is to work alongside you to identify and work towards what you would like to gain from coming to therapy.
I have experience working with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, addiction, and family and relationship dynamics.
I also work with children and young people, predominantly in a school setting using creative and play-based therapeutic interventions. I have experience working with sexual abuse, domestic abuse, physical/chronic illness in the family home, young carers and complex trauma.
Practice description
Therapy looks different for each person, so the way we work together will depend on what you would like to bring to our sessions. We can discuss your motivation for coming to therapy, and any goals or expectations you have. This can often change throughout the course of our sessions, and we can check in and review your experiences if that feels right for you.
I have experience working both long and short-term. I have worked for the NHS delivering short-term, goal focussed therapy which can be helpful if you are coming to therapy with a specific challenge and goal. I also work on an open ended basis where we work with whatever comes up on the day.
Working in from an integrative perspective allows me to offer a flexible, client-centred approach.
If you are a parent or carer looking for support for your child and would like this to be in-person, I also offer home visits.
My first session
I offer a free of charge, no obligation 20 minute phone call or online chat via Zoom, where you can ask any questions and share what you're looking for in a therapist.
If you feel that we would be a good fit, we can then agree on a date and time for our first session.
I have several low-cost slots available, please do ask for more information if affordability is an issue for you. I aim to make my practice accessible, and if you have any specific requirements, please let me know.
