About me and my therapy practice
I understand that challenges can emerge at any time of our lives, leaving a lasting impact. It can be hard to navigate the emotional weight whilst holding onto hope things can get better. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, pain from your past, relationship struggles, understanding yourself, or maybe something else, therapy can offer much needed valuable support to explore your thoughts and feelings, and a light in the dark to hope for change.
My approach is primarily focused on fostering an empathetic and non-judgmental relationship with you to support and encourage you through self-exploration and vulnerability, whilst allowing you to control the pace of our sessions helping you to feel safe and comfortable within our work together.
I practice in an integrative manner, through blending psychodynamic and person centered therapy approaches together, sometimes with other therapy techniques such as CBT. I take a holistic view in my work, considering all aspects of you and how they may interact and influence one another. I believe that different people may need different therapy approaches at various points in their lives, and so it's important for me to see you as the unique individual you are, tailoring our approach to work with you in a way that helps to create lasting and meaningful change.
Practice description
I work in an open ended way (meaning there is no set requirement from you for an attended number of sessions) from a cozy and confidential office space in South Birmingham, and I am also available to work with you remotely online. I usually do this through the WhatsApp platform, but you can always let me know if you have a preferred method.
I offer a free no-obligation introductory call to all enquiries. This call usually lasts between 15-20 minutes and gives us an opportunity to connect to be sure I am the right therapist for you and I have the skillset to best support you.
I use a contract with all my clients that collects some basic information about yourself, and goes into details about my policies such as confidentiality. This is something we can discuss and go through together, and you are welcome to ask me as many questions as you like.
My first session
Our first session will be chance for us to meet and continue building our therapeutic relationship. I may have some more questions for you continuing on from our initial call, but I hope to use the first session to support you in feeling comfortable in my presence, and allow you to control the pace and how you would like to begin.
I do not require any assessments to be completed, though the contract process will collect some basic information from you and emergency contact details.
