About me and my therapy practice

I am a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist with over 20 years experience.  I use an integrative-relational approach which recognises the individuality of each person and tailors the work towards your particular needs and sensitivities. I have extensive experience of working with individual adults, young people, couples and groups in various counselling agencies and specialist agencies as well as in my private practice.

I have taught on health psychology and counselling courses in higher and further education and provided training and workshops  for helping organisations.

I have particular experience and interest in working with trauma, bereavement, relationships, domestic abuse, and young people. Other areas of work include anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, and young people's issues.

I am a supervisor of qualified and trainee practitioners and a primary supervisor for Metanoia.

Practice description

I am also a qualified Supervisor and Trainer.

My first session

In response to your initial contact and before committing to an initial session, we will have a brief telephone conversation to discuss your needs in more detail, and to enable you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy.  This will also enable us both to get a sense of each other and to discuss and ascertain whether I will be the best support for you.

My practice room is private, comfortable and quiet. You have taken an important step in reaching out for assistance, so it is important that you feel at ease. When you attend the initial session, we start by agreeing the boundaries, e.g. confidentiality, timing, etc., before sharing details relating to the working contract, and more personal information for assessment purposes, before we get into what is troubling you. You may ask any questions about what to expect, or about me and my qualifications and experience. By the end of this session you will have a good idea of whether you feel comfortable enough for us to continue working together, or you may go away and take more time to consider.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified integrative-relational supervisor providing supervision to individuals and groups.

I am a primary supervisor for Metanoia.

I supervise qualified counsellors and psychotherapist as well as students and have supervised in agencies providing therapy for adults with various issues, young people, the bereaved and people who have experienced all types of trauma.

I have taught on counselling courses in higher education and work as a trainer for a charity providing support to victims of serious crime.

I value my own supervision and continue to receive great benefit from it.  I enjoy the process of supervision and find it very worthwhile to assist practitioners in developing therapeutic self-awareness through non-judgemental collaboration.
